I absolutely don't envision the playoffs this year or next. I do however see progress and excitement happening as well as being more watchable then the product we had on display last year.

2016 LA Lakers - Hollywood Going Young
Excited to see how Randle and Russell handle this season, I expect growing pains from both but nonetheless expect brighter days in the future. Can Jordan Clarkson take a even bigger step and help transition Kobe out the door and close it!

So far early in the season no good, I would like Byron so far gone from this team before he completely ****s up the young guys confidence.
Just continue playing Bass & Kelly in the front court together, continue to stifle Russell's growth and not allow him, Clarkson and Randle to gel. Just please continue so you can continue to be a retread coach hire somewhere else.Horseshoes & HollyWood -

37 minutes for Kobe though. Should be 28-30 max for him unless it's some miracle game where he finds his shot. 35 per game for Russell, Randle, and Clarkson, 20 for Nance, trade Swaggy for a 2nd rounder, call Anthony Brown up to play those minutes, and just let the kids learn how to play at the NBA level.Jordan Mychal Lemos

Byron Scott threatens to bench young players for lack of execution
by Harrison Faigen - silverscreenandroll.com
Los Angeles Lakers head coach Byron Scott told reporters on Wednesday that he was not going to hold Kobe Bryant accountable for his poor shot selection and horrific shooting percentages on those shots. Scott did say, however, that he is going to begin to hold the Lakers' younger players accountable for defensive mistakes.
"I told them today, 'my patience has run thin.'" Scott said, as reported by NBCLA's Shahan Ahmed.
What kind of environnement is that.Comment

Byron is just taking orders from people above him.
I refuse to believe this him making some of these decisions on his own.#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: 2016 LA Lakers - Hollywood Going Young
no matter who's behind, all they're doing is wasting time and delaying any type of evolution of our young core.
they ain't winning sh*t and they keep playing Kobe, Lou and Nick.
Russel - Clarkson - Larry - Randle - Upshaw with no responsibilities at all would do better than this pile of junk that is closing our games.Last edited by bpietro; 11-26-2015, 12:34 PM.Comment

It would never happen, but it would be so great if all the front row celebrities who come to the games showed up with paper bags over their heads. That might shame the FO into doing something.Jordan Mychal Lemos

All the Lakers/Kobe talk that goes on in those Kobe Game Threads and this thread is quiet?
But yeah, y'all boy Byron is tripping, not that it's anything new.#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: 2016 LA Lakers - Hollywood Going Young
But they're still selling out at home?
I noticed on ESPN on the NBA page, where they list the schedule, there are links to buying tickets for each game.
For most days, the game involving the Lakers has the highest starting price, usually over $100 while the other games start at a fraction of that amount.
So the retirement tour appears to have increased demand or the willingness of people to pay to see Kobe play.
Of course Kobe is also marketing specific merchandise for his retirement.
Maybe the Lakers are doing okay with ticket sales and of course that big TV contract so they don't mind the team losing so much with Kobe hogging the ball and taking touches away from the young players.
They could end up with a shot to get Simmons (though if they do, would he make Russell or Randle somewhat redundant, since his game involves handling the ball a lot?) while maybe seeing even increased revenues?Comment

Re: 2016 LA Lakers - Hollywood Going Young
I think the Lakers are doing fine with tickets selling. That's all they are about theses days.
I read a french article where D'Angelo says he isn't trying to please the coach on the court or that he isn't trying to show him anything. He plays for his teammates and he's just trying to get better as a player.
It was nice seeing him trying to close that game out in Minny.Comment

Russell looked pretty smooth last night until the offense went completely stagnant.

“The Lakers have granted Scott the autonomy to coach his team without interference. But Kupchak and/or Buss will likely meet with Scott next week after the team’s eight-game trip to gain a better understanding of his thought process on how he will develop the team’s young players, according to a team source familiar with the situation.”Comment
