    Nooooooo!! Ruiz? Champ? Nooooooooo!!

    http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/box...ory?id=2062473

Without throwing a punch, John Ruiz once again claimed a heavyweight championship when James Toney was stripped by the WBA for a positive drug test.

Toney won a unanimous decision against Ruiz to win the WBA title on April 30 at Madison Square Garden. However, Toney's post-fight drug test turned up positive for the banned steroid Nandrolone. The New York State Athletic Commission suspended Toney for 90 days, fined him the maximum $10,000, and overturned the result of the fight from a Toney victory to a no decision.

And suicide to the heavyweight division which is already falling off the face of boxing.

My friend did some research on the substance that was found in Toney's blood, and apparently, it can be produced in your body naturally by eating a lot of red meat and carbs...which is Toney's whole diet. He could have done a lot for the division, but instead, he's screwed out of title contention for 2 years. Now he's done, and because Ruiz got tipped off, he doesn't retire and retains the belt. This is crap. Boxing needs a governing body to restore legitimacy to this sport.

He already said it came from some medication he was taking. So don't give me that,"oh he could have gotten it from what he ate" garbage. The fact of the matter is someone from his camp should have done some research on what was being given to the guy. plain and simple.

Am I calling Toney a cheat,no I'm not. Am I gonna cry because he got stripped of the title,no,I'm not.

You should when Ruiz gets the title back. Believe me, I haven't ordered a heavyweight title fight since Tyson/Lewis, I'm all about the Barrera/Morales fights, and recently, Corrales/Castillo. But Toney would have been good for the division, it's unfortunate IMO this happened.

heavyweigth division has gone from bad to awful...besides the Tarver-Johnson fight there is no fight above middleweight this year that I am even remotely interested in.

If you expected Toney to save heavyweight boxing by providing inspiration to those fat, slow, old prospects out there then yeah it is a tragedy. The truth of the matter is there is not one heavyweight boxer out there who would be good enough to get a job as a sparring partner for guys like Holmes, Ali, Frazier etc...

Whether it's Ruiz, Toney, Klitschko, Byrd... blah blah blah. These guys are like politicians: they're all the same and share one trait which is their unique inability to box thier way out of a paper bag.

I'm kinda happy that Ruiz is champ again. The only thing entertaining right now in that division is the jeers and catcalls he gets from the crowd everytime he fights. He's so bad that he's actually become fun to watch kinda like "Plan 9 From Outerspace."

No one man can save the pitiful heavyweight division, this I know. Mayweather/Gatti, Hopkins/Taylor, these are fights I'll be picking up. Even since RJ has gotten knocked out twice, the light heavys are pretty pathetic right now too. I'm entirely content at watching the welterweights throw down, as the skill fighters have always been my preference. That division is nothing short of loaded, and they're all fighting each other.
