We all know what happen last time Tarver had a rematch after he lost a close decision in which a lot thought he won.

Re: June 18, Tarver vs Johnson
Roy Jones, considered the best fighter in his era, was a television commentator for the Johnson-Tarver fight in December. Jones said he would have picked Tarver as the winner.
"If Roy Jones said I won, I know good and well I won," Tarver said.Comment

I heard a few days ago, they really having a hard time selling tickets for the fight...so bad, they ended up selling them, 2 for 1.

Am I really the only one who thought it was enough one sided for Tarver for them not to even bother with a 3rd fight?Comment

Not denying that Tarver won but did he really even hurt Johnson once? It was obvious that he was desperately trying to outpoint him from the beginning. His strategy worked but I wasn't too impressed.
Those pitter-patter shots was nothing but for visual effects. He would able to sneak a left at the end of his flurry but those shots weren't doing any damage whatsoever. I give him no props whatsoever for those who want to slap box for 12 rounds.
It's obvious he couldn't KO Johnson so I don't know how "one-sided" the fight was.Comment

Originally posted by FlawlessGreat fight. Tarver showed alot of heart, and Johnson was a class act in defeat. Can't wait for the 3rd bout.
It shouldnt be the headliner of a match though, maybe on someone else main event.Comment

You must've mistake me for someone else...I was extatic when he knocked out the great Roy Jones Jr because it turned the boxing world upside down for a few weeks, but I never claimed to be his biggest fan. I do enjoy watching his fights, and knew of him way before he ever got his chance vs Jones, but im definatly not a Tarver fanboy, let alone really a fanboy of any boxer. I have my favorites in Taylor, Gatti and Mosley, but I try my best to tell it how I feel from an unbias point of view...
I do agree that the 11th round was a very exciting round, almost Gatti-Ward like, with both fighters landing clean punches, but I truly felt in my heart that after the 7th round Tarver had the fight won. I said it to my girlfriend about 1 round before Merchant made the comment something along the lines of, having the math problem in Johnson, and him working on it, then figuring it out, and now just waiting for it to be solved. It seemed academic that neither guy was going to be able to knock the other guy out, and Tarver was putting on a tremendous boxing performance. Im not sure if it was Tarver who changed up his style, but Johnson just was not sworming like he was in the Jones and Tarver 1 fight, and thats why I believed he lost. He was waiting on Tarver, and was being beat to the punch all night. Thats not Johnson's style, and he played right into the hands of Tarver because thats when hes at his best.Comment
