The lastest boxing rumor....

Seems to be a possible match up between Winky Wright and Floyd Mayweather at 154. My initial feeling is that Winky Wright would destroy him.

"What may have initially sounded like a crazy boxing rumor could turn out true. Unnamed sources close to the situation are reporting that promoters Bob Arum, Gary Shaw and Don King are in deep negotiations to match former undisputed junior middleweight boss Ronald “Winky” Wright and WBC Super Lightweight king “Pretty Boy” Floyd Mayweather, possibly in late October or November of this year. The fight will reportedly take place at a contracted weight of 154 lbs. Wright was last seen dominating Felix “Tito” Trinidad. In Mayweather’s last outing, he turned in a near-flawless performance in stopping former champ Arturo Gatti. More details to follow."

Winky is too big for Floyd....At that weight Floyd will lose some pop on those Jabs..I think Floyd will take Hatton next.

The size difference would actually be a big deal if Winky had a more imposing, agressive style. All he does is cover up with that peek-a-boo defensive style, throwing mostly jabs and the odd right hook off of it. That might have worked against Tito who just stood right in front of him and let Winky take free shots but Floyd obviously isn't gonna do that. Winky's a great fighter but with his style I just can't see him giving Floyd that much trouble. Floyd UD.

My thought is that really the only thing to neutralize speed is the Jab, and Winky has arguably the best jab in the business. He'll Jab and pot shot Floyd all night. Floyd will try flurying in combos, but will only hit winky's arms and elbows.

Winky EASY, I mean real easy. Floyd won't have a chance of getting through that defense. Winky will over power him with just enough jabbing to take a majority of the rounds.

Winky's jab is great, against Tito. Floyd is nearly impossible to hit with ANY kind of punch let alone the jab. The only fighter that can beat Floyd is a guy that's gonna press him HARD and never let off. Castillo is a good example. Their first fight was very close, mainly cause Castillo applied constant pressure. Winky is a GREAT fighter but I just think it's a bad style matchup for him.

I agree with that. Put constant pressure on floyd would be the key to beat him, but Winky's style is not like that. Even if Floyd hits his arms all night its going to wear on to the later rounds. Floyd is gonna keep punching, and i don't see anyone in the world catching up to Floyd's speed.
