I think you're going to be disappointed. From the videos out there the horrible parrying is still there. The career mode is incredibly weak and and Kudo added two new stupid types of punches (as if more were needed after the horrible Haymaker).
If you're a boxing fan and want a real boxing sim I don't think Fight Night Round 3 is the answer for you. I'm going to do like Koartist has said and wait for the PS3 and get VB3.

P.S. I bet you we still can't have solid coloured shorts in this game. Fans have been asking for this since the Knockout Kings series and yet we still dont' have something as simple as this. Thanks Kudo.

I actually don't mind the parry on the Haymaker. Because If the opponent winds up for a big blow and I see it coming and block it, I should get rewarded. I can get 2 or 3 punches in. Sure the parry is a cheezy representation, but without the parry, their would be absolutely no consequence for loading up for a big shot and no reward for knowing in advance what punch your opponent is throwing. In real life, if you telegraph a crushing overhand right, and I see it coming, you're going to be hurting because I'll either beat you to the punch or sway and counter. Unfortunately in FN you really can't do either, but you can parry and that leaves the opponent exposed, the same as if I swayed or beat you to the punch.

I understand that but the whole Haymaker system is flawed. So how does Kudo remedy that? By addinga flawed parry system. I'd rather see them scrap the whole Haymaker crap and fix the boxing engine or totally rebuild it.

To be honest with you, I would rather they bulk up the career mode to be what I've read about VB2, than touch the gameplay. I pulled out my game FN RD2 game last night because I was getting the boxing itch again. I had a Johnny Tapia career going, and I was fighting Floyd Mayweather fot the Lightweight belt. The fight went 12 rounds with no knockdowns and the match ended in me losing a split decision. My eyes were cut & swollen. And it was pretty close to being a stoppage on a few occassions. The actual gameplay didn't bother me all that much, and the fight seemed fairly realistic.

What was really lacking is a training regiment, multiple belts, more real contenders, an actual calendar to manage, etc. The cheezy 50 man ladder. Their should be some really good fighters ranked in the 20's & 30's that just aren't discovered yet that can give you the beatdown if you don't watch their style and train appropriately, etc.

With that I complelety agree. It seems that Kudo worries way too much about the online community and not those that play against the CPU. There's no incentive to play this game more than a week or two if you don't go online.
