do fighters EVER punch themselves out?
im fighting this guy who's stamina is a 68, through 7 rounds he's thrown well over 1000 punches, like 1070 i think and most of them were uppercuts and hooks and he only had 37%, but the 8th round starts and he is punching like its the first round of the fight and about 100 more punches into the round he knocks me out, do computer fighters EVER tire out, cause i didnt see any signs of him tiring out at all through the round, 1100 punches through 7 and a half rounds is an awful lot for a middle weight.Tags: None -

Re: do fighters EVER punch themselves out?
This is how it works:
Unfortunately in Rd3, you can basically throw 150 punches a round. Your overall stamina will go down over the round, but at the end of the round you get about half a stamina bar back anyway, so you will be at full (or very near full) stamina for the next round. The only time throwing lots of punches is detrimental is when:
1. You opponent is good at parrying, or
2. You've thrown so many punches in a row (5 second span or so) that you can throw another one and it will come out slower, but still basically do the same amount of damage. You have to wait one second for your stamina bar to fill back up. Then you can start swinging away again.
The only thing that makes a character tired is overall damage, which is best done by landing punches. Body shots don't do any added damage or make your opponent tired, it just slows down a SLIGHT BIT their leaning speed (according to the game; i have not yet seenw here this is true). They seem more effective in Round 3 because they're easier to land, since everyone just leans, the only punches you can land inside are body shots.
All in all, this game is still an arcade game. Too much emphasis on the parry, which you never see in real boxing, not enough ways to break down defense, too much emphasis on leaning and subsequently too much emphasis on body shots. Well, at least they toned down the haymaker a bit. Big whoop.
The game is still fun, but only as an arcade diversion, not as any approximation of real boxing.Comment

I fought online last night against someone who used Corrales and punched himself out by throwing 140 punches a round. By the tenth he had nothing left.Comment

My sentiments exactly! I play on ps2 and there are too many punches thrown and the parry is downright ridiculous. Does this same problem exist on 360?Comment

Re: do fighters EVER punch themselves out?
I fought a guy who was 25-4 tonight and he punched himself out using almost exclusively haymakers and the stun punch. His guy was tanked by the 6th or 7th round. I didn't lose a round after 4 and knocked him out in the 10th.
So my theory is that those impact punches really drain you. Jabs, maybe that doesn't matter. Hooks, not such a big deal either. But if you find someone who relies on those big shots you can EASILY get them to tire out.Originally Posted by Briman123

Re: do fighters EVER punch themselves out?
I'm tired of facing the computer in my career and they are punching all the time and their stamina NEVER goes down. However I'm punching the same amount and my fighter's stamina goes almost down to nothing. My stamina rating is higher than my opponents as well, and I don't use haymakes all the time.Comment
