    Game Play Tips!

    1. Work the body, I spent most of my time head hunting in the first 2 Fight Night games and working the body really pays off in RD 3 . I have a Tyson cab, and it works great.

    2. Throw an elbow right after the bell rings at the end of the round, gives the guy something to think about on the stool..

    please add your tips!

Speed kills in this game. Power was the killer in FNR2, but this game is all about speed. If you're faster than you're opponent, you're far more likely to get haymakers off of parries which gives you the adrenaline abuse.

I like a nice combo of going uppercut to the body -> straight to the head. Work this in with weaving around your opponent's punches. You get the right rhythm going, you'll have yourself in a position to get a knockout in no time.

So of the coolest moments I've had in the game so far involved getting the opponent backed into the ropes, bobbing, weaving and alternating between the head and body. The game is far from perfect but sometimes it does feel VERY real.

If you have the speed advantage don't forget to use the double tap on the stick to quickly move around the ring. Don't forget that this can quickly move you forward and laterally. A nasty trick if you have the speed advantage is to play possum near one of the corners then quickly try to circle your opponent and trap them in the corner. I have noticed that most opponents panic when they get trapped on the ropes.

Watch your opponents blocking patterns and adjust your combinations accordingly. For example, if you are trying to dig to the body with a left hook, then following that up with a straight right and it is consistently getting blocked then maybe you should double up to the body, or dig to the body then follow up with a left hook.

If you are fighting a stalker you generally want to circle away from his dominant power hand.

Try to vary your attack. Sidestep your opponent and try to punch at angles. Don't always come in the front door.

The haymakers and special punches are typically slow. If you see someone winding up you have three options: pop them with a jab/straight, lean/block, or just simply step back out of range.

Great tips especially that last bit, you can frustrate the he!! out of somebody if they keep trying to wind up a haymaker and you keep jabbing them.

            1. Body work, body work, body work. An element that was sorely missing in the first two games is portrayed more realistic than ever. I find myself not only attempting more body shots, but landing more (even on Hard difficulty, which is a joke at times) then I do headshots. Not only does it wear the opponent's legs over multiple rounds, it's a good way to make yourself less obvious in your punches.

            2. As said earlier, speed kills in this game. The jab is more effective than ever in this game, while haymakers are as they should be; used sparingly and only when going for the KO. You're bread and butter has to be jab combinations, mixed with hooks and an occasional uppercut.

            3. I disagree with those who say you have to move to be successful in this game. Unfortunately, while the makers have done a very good job of fixing the haymaker and unevenness of the first 2 games, this game is still about slugging it out. Footwork is not well done at all IMO, in this game. You can still just stand there, weave and block, and counter your opponent all day long. Although unrealistic, it is a reality in this game.

I'll come back with more later.

You are to right my man. I was telling one of my buddies the other day that the one thing that jumped out at me was that fighters like Sugar Ray Leonard seem to lose every fight that I setup and watched vs. Hagler/Duran. The power punchers seem to just swing non stop while always going forward. Im convinced that you can punch and punch without landing and not suffer any real stamina issues. Sluggers will continue to have the advantage until guys like Ray Leonard or any speed guys are able to actually DANCE in the ring. They need to really do some research but they won't. How many have they sold already? How can you tell them something is wrong?$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ $$$You Can't. Good ol EA

Career offline cant really compare to online.
If you plan to go online try and work these things while in your offline mode.

Block and parry parry parry. Lots of people will just mash buttone and storm straight at you. Catch those punches with a parry and it leaves them standing there frozen like a dope

Practice a hard counter combo or massive haymaker off the parry. The best players can do a haymake on command and land after catching/parrying one of your punches. Completely devastating.

Practice being able to protect your gut. Lots of sluggers/mashers will just march in and start flailing hooks too your gut. It may sound trivial but you will be surprised how effective it is and tough to block if you are not ready.

Practice spotting a haymaker or signature move consitantly. Never ever let the CPU get one off on you every time you see one coming it should be second nature and a twitch reflex to jab there grill.

Practice managing your stamina. Turn on the hud. You will be surprised at how many mashers freak out and cant react to you actually just movong away and not punchingback. Most fights will be crazy funny toe to toe slugfest in the center of the ring. Dont fall for it get away from them and make them tire without using your own stamina. Very effective against mashers.

I once fought a guy that caught every single jab I threw and crushed my grill with a counter. This game is all about the counter. Practice the counter over ad over till its automatic. If your scorecards dont have many counters on them when you are done youre not doing it correctly. A counter is a parry and a slam not just making them miss and hitting them.

Most imperitive skill to learn is block parry. I cant stress how important this is. You will be able to match up to any type of fighter from a masher haymaker spammer , to a well tuned stick and move machine. Use all your time fighting the AI to practice the counter and block and parry.

                Will think of more maybe.

                Oh forgot one.
                Master the clinch block/reject.
Clinching is huge online, it is harder to get the last knockdown than the KO moment. Everyone will clinch instantly. You must be able to fight this off. This is real hard offline as the AI hardly ever does it. The best fighters will never let you grab them and will crush you the second you try to grab them,

I have had 15 ranked matches and about 20 unranked and have yet to be hit with a haymaker off of a parry or hit somebody with a haymaker off of a parry.

The signature punch seems to be harder to defend then the haymakers, at least against online opposition-not sure about the power difference between the two.

Yeah, I agree with the guy who talked about parrying. Offline, you really don't have to parry at all to win. Online, it's pretty important. Practice parrying an opponents big hook or haymaker, then sending them a haymaker of your own. It's absolutely devestating at times.

I don't think parrying is all it is cracked up to be. I think that leaning and dodging is a much better way to setup your counter shots - it is much more fluid and reliable in my opinion. Also, against someone who is very patient with their punches you can't count on being able to parry their shots.

This is what I am talking about with the rope trick. Watch around the 50 second mark. The round goes seriously downhill for him from here. Notice how several times he tries to get off of the ropes but I use footwork to keep him from circling out of there.

Aaenuel, how do you push your opponent on the ropes. I am playing on PS2 version, and could use that shove to move opponents where I want them and block the clinches? PM me if you get a second. Thanks-

Great round by the way...man that guy had NO DEFENSE at all.
