Philly Shell Defense

Hey guys,

To start really enjoying game. Working through with a welterweight and am 1 fight from everlast belt fight. I have experimented here and there with other weight classes to try and unlock more styles. I can't seem to unlock the philly shell. I really would like to try it out as it sounds great for a countering boxer. Does anyone know who I have to fight and at what weight class to unlock the philly shell?? Also I know that Judge jab comes from fighting ali. My roommate fought him like 3rd fight as heavyweight. I made a heavyweight under my profile and I fought frazier instead on 3rd fight?? Not sure what that was all about.

Anyways help on the philly shell would be great, I am leaving work now and hope to see a response when I get home so I can work on unlocking it.

ps. any opinions on the shell would be great too(do you like or hate, etc.)

I beat Sugar Ray Robinson in the Robinson/Lamotta classic fight
the shell is a bitch to fight against but I couldn't get the hang of it using it.

yea me either. I like to rope a dope sometimes and would get killed using
the Shell..

I find it to be much harder to counter with but there's more time to counter punch after throwing.

The Philly Shell defense is the worst for countering.

philly shell is the best to counter with because it gives you more time to throw a haymaker or combo...but it SUCKS when you parry the wrong side or just try to straight up block...you will get killed...Ive practiced using it alot and Im starting to get good with it...its more for a speed/boxing type than a brawler...you will get killed standing in trying to block

hmm, I started playing with it last night. So far I am not sure what to think about it. I am not used to the way it looks and thus I have a somewhat hard time parrying. My plan though is a boxer with maxed chin and heart and stamina with great power(low speed and agility, this comes from equipment) Then just rope a dope, counter --> Haymaker. I have made up to the under armour fight with no problems. This isn't saying much but it has been pretty fun and all but one of my fights was won by stoppage in like the 2nd or 3rd round. Counter --> haymakers are disastrous to opponents faces. I assume that philly will probably get hard to use when I get as high as my 35th to 40th fight. This was tough with my welterweight.

Pretty much. When my blocking is on, I can destroy people using Jermain Taylor. But if you parry to the wrong side (obviously) or just do the standard middle block all the time, you'll absorb a ton more damage than you would with another blocking style. But if you're good at parrying, the Philly Shell is the shiznit. High risk, high reward, I guess you'd call it....
