How do you stop a clinch?

How do you stop someone from using the clinch against you other than
hitting them with a punch before they clinch? I tried hitting the Y button
but it didn't stop them. I'm using 360.

Good question. I've had a few online opponents prevent me from clinching-it seems like they blocked to the head. This and any other clinching strategies would be appreciated by me and m00d.

Yea I feel ya.... I've lost a couple fights I would have won but they were
masters of the clinch. And after the clinch they get the 10 second stamina
boost and make a come back. The Clinch is driving me nuts...arg..hehe

I belive that I read in FN rnd@ that if you hit the clinch button while your opponant is trying to clinch you will push him away. I think.

Just block high and it'll make you push the clinch attempt away.

Exactly. And push the clinch botton to knock him out of a clinch. Also, the clinch comes in handy if you feel like your punches are going slow.

How do you counter the high block, if you want to clinch-punch low and wait for the high block to go down?

If you want to clinch, punching is not a great idea. Your best bet is to back away, kill time, and hope to parry his punch when he does take the block down, and then clinch.

Just press the clich button as his arms extend around you
