    Re: Parrying

Im not sure how many may know this but it sounds as if some dont.

When you go to training if you choose the sparring option it has lessons that show you all the special features.

It will show you each haymaker and how to parry and even counter haymaker off a parrry.

Exactly... I never played before Round 2, andlet me tell you... my style of boxing was getting my *** kicked this go-round. I was an aggressive free swinger, and after a while... say 5th-7th round my punches had **** on em, the announcers would even comment on it, "His punches seem to have NOTHING behind them, he seem's to need a breather."

So I actually learned to limit my punches and only throw 1-3 haymakers per round instead of haymaker after haymaker. I also learned to really look at my opponents eyes.. I'm a righty, but I throw my cross a lot so I tag the opponents left eye a good amount. If I see that eye is swollen or bleeding, I'll switch up my stance for a few moments and just tag the **** out of him with my right-handed jab, back off and go back to my normal stance.

Even now, as a light-heavyweight I still throw too many punches... That my stamina is at about 35-40% by the 7th-8th round. That is something I have to work on, but this game actually makes you box instead of just slug people.

        Re: Parrying

some of these guys online try to parry over and over. They just stand there parrying. I like it though because when they do that I never throw 2 punches in a row at the same spot. I must of landed 10-15 shots in a row against some guy tonight.

I was just bobbing and weaving throwing punches. At one point I went in a clockwise pattern with my punches and made 3revolutions (body-right, body-left, face-left and face-right) on his body before he backed off

This is true but if I land a counter haymaker I get a temporary "energy burst" that lets me throw unlimited punches w/o affecting my stamina. So in a sense button mashers are rewarded for throwing tons of punches.

Online, several of my opponents have their stamina bar reduced to 33% by round 7, which gives you a tremendous advantage, especially if yours is still over 80%.

You're not being rewarded for button mashing, you're being rewarded for landing a counter haymaker, and as you said, it's temporary.

There is also more than one type of gamer to appeal to.

Do you only fight online with the hud on? I've yet to do that...

Or is the hud on in ranked matches only? I ask because I've only fought in non-ranked bouts so far..

yeah, that would work. Or they could make it timing based (if the parry is not perfectly timed w/ the punch, then it's just a plain old block.)
