How Do You Use Finesse Fighters?
Whenever I use a finesse fighter (Sugar Ray Leornard or Robinson), I can't seem to win a fight. I do fine with the punchers (LaMotta, Hagler), but I can't do much with the finesse fighters. I keep reading that this game does not give the advantage to the punchers and that finesse fighters do as well. I try to jab a lot with finesse fighters and move around the ring a lot. But the jabs don't seem to do much (according to the HUD). What is the best way to use the finesse fighting style?Tags: None -

IMO the way Kudo has structured the game and the way people fight online, it is just more pratical to pick a puncher. The balance is just not realistic. -

Re: How Do You Use Finesse Fighters?
Finesse is just that Finesse.
Its about defense and countering. Slip punches and dont get hit, that is finesse.
Be happy to score solid punches and they will eventually add up or you win a decision.
If you can only win with a puncher you are way too agressive.
Try this.
Just practice in single player never being the first to throw. Only throw a punch if he does first. Practice just trying to parry dont even punch.
If you think a haymaker takes too long to wind up you are trying to just throw a haymaker on offense and thats how it should be, nobody is going to stand there while you wind up this huge punch right?
Haymakers are actually very fast and easy off a counter. You should already be leaning in the direction it will come from, and the stick is already wound up, from there it is a very easy and fast slight movement of the stick to slam a haymaker into them off a counter. Where ever you get the parry from just slide it a bit forward and wham there it is.
Takes practice like anything else.
Spend time to practice your weak spots, just practice over and over if you really want to improve. It will come to you and click.
Remember what finesse means.Comment

I'm actually more sucessful with a Sugar Ray or Roy Jones then a Frazier. You have to keep moving and use your jab. 80% of the people online use powere fighters and go for quick knockouts. If you use movement and mix in uppercuts with the jab, you will wear them down. Most power fighters will wear out by round 4 if you kepp making them miss.Follow me on Twitter - http://twitter.com/complex219Comment

Re: How Do You Use Finesse Fighters?
I just got this game last nite. I'm having a rough time on the Hard level. On medium I can knock the other guy out by the 4th round at the latest. On hard I feel like im doing good but end up getting destroyed around the 5th.
I believe it's my defense. It looks like I'm blocking punches but the other guy keeps scoring on me when im in my block stance. If I can get past the the middle round I'll feel like im in good shape but I end up getting demolished around that time.
The CPU just comes out throwing a barrage of punches at me and I'm having trouble blocking/dodging them. I know i need more practice. Does everyone user 3 min rounds?Comment

I prefer 2 minute rounds. It becomes less of a fighting match and more of a boxing match cause I throw less punches. I actually had a 12 round fight. I was Erik Morales and facing Manny Pacquio.Comment

Re: How Do You Use Finesse Fighters?
I've been using 2 min rounds myself lately and see fights lasting past the 3rd round lol.
I have gotten a little bit better with my defense. I found that before I was holding the block button while leaning either to the right or left and was getting clocked on the open side. Now I hold the block at a neutral position so Im covered no matter if it is a right or left that is coming. Now I have to work on my reaction to block either the body or the head.
On a good note I did win my first online fight. I was Gatti the other guy was Hatton. It was pretty close but I knocked him out in the 7th..We started out even the first couple of rounds, then I jumped ahead a whole lot in the 3rd b/c I landed some big shots and he had no answer, he calmed down after that and started attacking my body for the next couple of rounds really bad. I finally adjusted my defense and kept chipping away until I took him down and he wasn't able to get back up.Comment
