Winky Wright & Floyd Mayweather Jr (2 seperate chat sessions)

    June 26, 2006

EXCLUSIVE: WINKY WRIGHT PUTS FLOYD MAYWEATHER JR ON BLAST!
    By G. Leon

Over the weekend Winky Wright expressed great interest in facing undefeated pound for pound king Floyd Mayweather Jr telling Boxingtalk.com,

"Floyd was the one who first called me out right here on Boxingtalk a few months ago and now that we're both looking for someone for our next fight, I'm surprised that him and his people are talking about trying to fight everybody but me. They're talking about Hatton, Cotto, the Mosley-Vargas winner, Margarito, but what happened to Winky Wright? I'm saying if you were really serious about fighting me then why did you forget to mention my name now? Floyd says he's looking for the biggest challenge out there, Floyd says he wants to give the fans the biggest fight out there for November 4 well here I am little homey, step up to the plate and I'll kill myself to make 154 just to show the world who the best is period."

GL: When did you decide to actively pursue Mayweather as an option for your next fight?

Winky Wright: "I ain't one of these fighters that wants to fight just to fight. I want to fight the so called best out there and keep on getting my hand raised until people can't deny that I'm the best out there, I ain't trying to make fights with just anybody because those fights don't really mean nothing and I don't get up for them guys the same way."

GL: In the past you said you didn't really have much to gain by fighting Floyd, why would you want to come down to 154 to fight him now?

Winky Wright: "Since Jermain Taylor and them are going to take another fight or two before they try to fight me again, a fight with Floyd is the biggest fight out there for me and it's the biggest fight out there for Floyd. I'll probably have to kill myself to make 154 now but I'm willing to do it, because once I get Floyd out of the way Oscar De La Hoya ain't going to have nowhere to look but Winky Wright if he wants to end his career against the best like he says he do."

GL: So you want to fight Mayweather to eliminate him as the primary option for Oscar's last fight?

Winky Wright: "Why not? And if Oscar never comes back giving Floyd his first L will be fun, and then I'll go back up to 160 and beat Jermain Taylor even worse than I did the first time. While Jermain's beating up on some bum in Little Rock, I'll tune up on Floyd and come right back with Jermain, because unlike Floyd and the rest of these guys I really look to fight the best and I don't need my team to tell me who they are."

GL: How do you feel a fight with you and Floyd plays out?

Winky Wright: "Come on now G, you saw me walk right through everything Jermain Taylor and Felix Trinidad was throwing at me and those are some big strong middleweights, Floyd would be on his bike the whole fight and once I start putting that pressure on him I wouldn't be surprised if I stopped him. Floyd ain't never been in there with anyone that much stronger who's harder to hit cleanly than he is. I don't care what he says about how much I got hit in my last fight because he got dropped in his last fight, they just didn't call it and he was out on his feet against Chop-Chop so it's not like he's unhittable. Little Floyd is just too little for me, I guess now we'll have to wait and see if Floyd's really trying to fight the best out there."

GL: Do you still want 50-50 to make the fight?

WW: "Hell yeah. I ain't taking no shorts. I've been fighting the best out there and I'd be coming down in weight. Plus we the two best fighters out there in the biggest fight out there so there's no way it should be anything but 50-50."

GL: Do you think a fight with you and Floyd is bigger than Floyd versus the winner of Mosley-Vargas II?

WW: "Yep. Yep. I beat both of them and I don't know who Floyd thinks he's fooling, he calls himself the best fighter in the world and says he's the one calling the shots but then he can't take a piss without talking to his team about it. I'm saying, if he's the one calling the shots why is he waiting for the winner of two guys I beat? If you trying to fight the best out there step up to the plate and fight Winky Wright, point blank."

GL: Floyd described you as a one handed fighter and said there's no way a one handed fighter would ever beat him. How do you respond to that?

WW: "Tell I promise I'll break him down with both hands. (laughs) It's like this though G, if he's running from Antonio Margarito what you think he's going to do with Winky Wright? Just what he's been doing, keeping my name out of his mouth and off of his list."

GL: Bob Arum recently offer Floyd Mayweather $8M to fight Antonio Margarito on October 7, do you think Floyd would make more than that guaranteed to fight you?

WW: "I don't know what the numbers would be but after we do big numbers on PPV, 50% of whatever the two best pound for pound fighters in the world should make for fighting each other should be more than that. But if Floyd keeps on running from Margarito, I'll come down to 154 if Bob wants to put that money up for Margarito to fight me."
    Winky seems ready to go

T.N.T. CHAT TRANSCRIPT: FLOYD MAYWEATHER JR.

    June 27, 2006

T.N.T. CHAT TRANSCRIPT: FLOYD MAYWEATHER JR.
Original chat session on June 26, 2006

"If he really wants me to teach him the business, all he has to do is call me."

thehype: Boxingtalk would like to welcome Floyd Mayweather Jr. to tonight's T.N.T. chat session

SugarDusMosley: Floyd, what weight would a fight with Mosley take place at? you are talking about fighting Oscar at 154, would you fight Mosley there as well, or would it be at Welterweight?

FLOYD_MAYWEATHER_JR: Well, Shane has been saying that he wants to come down to welterweight so the fight would have to be at 147. The only reason I was trying to go to 154 was to fight Oscar.

FLOYD_MAYWEATHER_JR: He's the champion up there and I would be fighting him to make history.

joe2v: Floyd thanks for the love you gave us on that Memphis to atlanta Delta flight last week. Without Roger in your corner(nevada suspension) will you still fight in vegas. If not where is your next fight gonna be?

FLOYD_MAYWEATHER_JR: I'm pretty confident that my next fight will be in Vegas. More than 15,000 people showed up at the Thomas and Mack last time and I'm looking to do more of the same in my next big fight on November 4.

FLOYD_MAYWEATHER_JR: Roger isn't going to be in my corner, but I'm very comfortable with Leonard and Rafael. They will do a great job.

mannyg: floyd why dont you fight margarito?

FLOYD_MAYWEATHER_JR: Me and Margarito just might wind up fighting. He might just be the guy

FLOYD_MAYWEATHER_JR: we're going to have to wait and see

FLOYD_MAYWEATHER_JR: If it's not Margarito, it will be a major fight I promise you that.

FLOYD_MAYWEATHER_JR: It's going to be a major fight but it's going to be on my terms

Titlebelt: Floyd, Did you catch the Joel Julio vs. Carlos Quintana bout this past weekend, and what are your thoughts on both of these fighter's skills inside the ring?

FLOYD_MAYWEATHER_JR: I actually saw some clips of it, I saw highlights. It looked like it was an interesting fight, the kid Quintana did a great job taking that other young boy to school.

Munoz520: Floyd always look forward to your fights, what is your response to Winky saying he would use you as a tune up to his taylor rematch? Would you go up in weight to fight him at 154? I wanna see that fight next!

FLOYD_MAYWEATHER_JR: Interesting question and I'm glad you addressed that, now give me some time

FLOYD_MAYWEATHER_JR: This is like I told my man G, he musta got hit in his head too many times, cuz he talks like a cat with no sense.

FLOYD_MAYWEATHER_JR: I like him but if he's even talking about fighting me at 50-50 the fight ain't never going to happen.

FLOYD_MAYWEATHER_JR: Ask yourself this question, Why would I fight this guy at 50-50 when he just accepted less than that for Jermain and he didn't win.

FLOYD_MAYWEATHER_JR: He makes reference to not knowing what the numbers would be and that's his problem.

FLOYD_MAYWEATHER_JR: That's the kind of information he needs to know and that's the information I know. That's why I have the best team in boxing.

FLOYD_MAYWEATHER_JR: Winky's problem is he can't fight on HBO PPV without me or Jermain

FLOYD_MAYWEATHER_JR: Obviously he's the odd man out and he ain't got nothing going for him.

FLOYD_MAYWEATHER_JR: That's why he's suddenly calling me and Jermain out for the rematch.

FLOYD_MAYWEATHER_JR: I know when my next two dates are. Winky Wright can't even get a date on HBO.

FLOYD_MAYWEATHER_JR: And that should go to show you what the HBO brass thinks of him. And the thing is, I like Winky.

FLOYD_MAYWEATHER_JR: I repeat, if he got upside his head as much as he did in the Soliman and Taylor fights, which were probably both draws, what's he going to do with me.

FLOYD_MAYWEATHER_JR: Then he makes reference to stopping me...who's he fooling?

FLOYD_MAYWEATHER_JR: He has two stoppages in the last ten years!

FLOYD_MAYWEATHER_JR: Obviously, you've been getting hit upside your head a bit too much

FLOYD_MAYWEATHER_JR: It's clearly obvious you can't bust an egg!

FLOYD_MAYWEATHER_JR: They say he got a good defense, but you don't have a good defense with all them knots upside your head

FLOYD_MAYWEATHER_JR: He's a good fighter but ain't no way he could ever beat me.

FLOYD_MAYWEATHER_JR: I mean it's funny he talks about wanting parity to fight me. If you take away the Trinidad fight, Winky ain't made $8M his whole career

Sydney_fan: Floyd any chance you you would fight Kostya Tszyu in November? Two Hall of Fame greats in the ring would be a special contest for the fans. Kostya would be stronger at 147. He was struggling to make weight against Hatton.

FLOYD_MAYWEATHER_JR: Actually we would love to make that fight, but I don't think he's going to be ready before the end of the year. He's probably going to come back the early part of next year. He would be a guy that I would consider fighting in February if he was available.

socal619: You think that De La Hoya still consider fighting you before he retires. I think he's scare at the moment.

FLOYD_MAYWEATHER_JR: Oscar's not scared. How can he be scared when he's been champion in six different weight classes? He's a businessman and I respect his decision not to fight for the rest of the year. Coming off that performance with Mayorga, he's not trying to rush back to the gym.

FLOYD_MAYWEATHER_JR: I'm disappointed about it, but I respect that.

Monsterito: Greetings Senor Mayweather. What are the terms you don't like about the $8 million offer from Arum? Sounds legit, as you have said you love Arum and he's the best promoter ever?

FLOYD_MAYWEATHER_JR: I'm not going to negotiate through Boxingtalk, but Boxingtalk will be the first to get it when and if it gets done.

DjN.O.S.: FLOYD IS A WINKY FIGHT POSSIBLE FOR THE RIGHT PRICE

FLOYD_MAYWEATHER_JR: Anything is always possible as long as he comes off of that ridiculous demand of parity.

FLOYD_MAYWEATHER_JR: I'm shocked he was talking like that. He talks about my team but he wishes he had them because he would have never been in the position to take shorts in the Jermain fight with my team behind him.

FLOYD_MAYWEATHER_JR: If he really wants me to teach him the business, all he has to do is call me.

rain: floyd what do you think about zab leaving don King?

    FLOYD_MAYWEATHER_JR: No comment.

FLOYD_MAYWEATHER_JR: That's not my business. Aint no reason for me to get into that.

HDM: Hey Floyd I always enjoy watching you fight. My question is: Is your next fight later this year going to be your last at 147? Also do you plan on fight the winner of Mosely/Vargas at 154 in Febuary of next year as a tune up for an Oscar fight in May?

FLOYD_MAYWEATHER_JR: The Vargas-Mosley winner is definitely a possibility for November.

FLOYD_MAYWEATHER_JR: It's about five or six other guys in the mix and whoever comes in the hat, I guarantee you it will be a big event.

p4pkingpin: Floyd... It looks like Margarito is your best option out there this year. I see him as a bigger, stronger Castillo. How would you fight him?

FLOYD_MAYWEATHER_JR: I'm glad you see him as a bigger stronger Castillo, but me personally, I think you're disrespecting Jose Luis Castillo right now.

FLOYD_MAYWEATHER_JR: Margarito has nowhere near the resume Castillo has, but I guarantee if he happens to be the guy to come out of the hat, I'll punish him and expose him for being the level of fighter he is and disrespecting me and my team the way he has.

sauld4: Hey Floyd, what is a typical day of training for you, as in what do you eat how long do you work out for?

FLOYD_MAYWEATHER_JR: My training varies. I let Leonard establish my training regimen throughout training camp.

FLOYD_MAYWEATHER_JR: I try to eat the right things and I keep myself in the best condition

FLOYD_MAYWEATHER_JR: I stay ready to keep from getting ready. I try to set a good example for the younger fighters.

Son_of_Jur-el: whats this about you and pacman at 135, any truth?

    FLOYD_MAYWEATHER_JR: Nope.

FLOYD_MAYWEATHER_JR: Why would I want to fight someone so much smaller than me. I would sound ridiculous calling him out, unlike him calling me out.

pbf_p4p: What do you think about all the talk of the legacy of fighters going on right now as there seems to have been a changing of the gaurd going on with the retirement of Bernard and Roy's decline. What about a fight with Ouma? ROCK ON

FLOYD_MAYWEATHER_JR: I think it would be a great fight between two great fighters. I think it would be a very entertaining back and forth give and take fight. Oscar feels like with me fighting him at 154, that I would lose some of my speed and wouldn't be the same fighting with ten ounces on

FLOYD_MAYWEATHER_JR: But I got news for him if ever decides to step in that square with me.

swift_chancelor: floyd what do u think zab should do mext?? if he gets some wins under his belt would you consider a rematch?

FLOYD_MAYWEATHER_JR: Why would I consider a rematch when I got it right the first time. I'm not one of these guys like Winky Wright. I take care of business the first time around so then I'm the one calling the shots

FLOYD_MAYWEATHER_JR: I don't have to wait for nothing to fall into place.

all-rise: I think you can be the best ever!! but stay at welterweight I don't want you to move up in wieght and lose 2 a guy just because he was 2 big 4 U!! p.s u'd kill mosley or vargas - fight maragrito or winky

FLOYD_MAYWEATHER_JR: Like I said before, skills will always pay the bills. Size only matters if you're a limited fighter.

FLOYD_MAYWEATHER_JR: Certain fighters can pull off certain things and I'm just thankful to be blessed with this special gift to be able to do the unthinkable.

jabsizzle: If Zab fought Margarito who'd you pick to win? DO U think they will meet if U don't fight him?

    FLOYD_MAYWEATHER_JR: Zab.

FLOYD_MAYWEATHER_JR: I don't know if they'd fight and to be honest I could care less.

Mayweather_vs_Cotto_147lbs: Margarito is a Headhunter please dont fight him,hes good against people that will brawl with him!Mayweather vs Cotto will be the best fight for summer 2007,,,can we please see this fight,Cotto isnt green anymore lol You scared to get HIT?

FLOYD_MAYWEATHER_JR: You need to talk to Bob Arum about that. Everyone knows Bob Arum don't want me nowhere near Cotto. We ain't getting in the same zip code...forget about the same square.

FLOYD_MAYWEATHER_JR: I respect Bob for that though. He needs to do what's best for him and his company and putting Cotto in with me defintitely aint the move.

FLOYD_MAYWEATHER_JR: Not for Cotto at least.

PrettyBoyFloydM: Hey Floyd, how do you think a third fight with Castillo would look at 140? Would you be interested in that?

FLOYD_MAYWEATHER_JR: Who would be interested in that when I've already beaten him twice?

FLOYD_MAYWEATHER_JR: What sense would that make?

FLOYD_MAYWEATHER_JR: Even he wouldn't want that fight because after 24 rounds he knows there's no way in hell he could beat me.

Smelodies: What was your father's gameplan for Oscar against Hopkins? Did he have one? Was it coherent? And also, what is your favorite Hopkins fight, asthetically, besides the Trinidad one?

FLOYD_MAYWEATHER_JR: I don't know what pops game plan was against Hopkins. I never talked to him about it.

FLOYD_MAYWEATHER_JR: I would say Hopkins best fight was with Trinidad, but he fought a great fight with Tarver a couple weeks back.

FLOYD_MAYWEATHER_JR: He's a consummate pro and I have nothing but respect for his fight game.

mdwood1: Great job Hype. Hey Floyd. I just wanted to give you props for NOT responding to the nasty things your Dad has said about you. You prove to be a class act in, and out of the ring. I hope things work out between you two.Continued success to you champ!!!

FLOYD_MAYWEATHER_JR: Thank you very much for your support.

2fasttodd: hey Floyd, all props to you P4P #1. Have you talked much with Zab since that fight? Are you two now on good terms? Oscar can't touch you bro, Todd/Canada

FLOYD_MAYWEATHER_JR: We've spoken since the fight and we cool. I ain't got nothing against Zab. I wish him the best.

winky_is_da_man: floyd wuts up....i was just wondeing will u face ricky hatton b4 may

FLOYD_MAYWEATHER_JR: That's a question for Ricky, his promoter and pops. We all know that I've been reading to fight this guy but he ain't want nothing to do with the fight. The fact that people mention his name and my in the same breath is starting to bother me.

FLOYD_MAYWEATHER_JR: Didn't he just lose to some guy I ain't never heard of?

FLOYD_MAYWEATHER_JR: Boxingtalk.com, the Pretty Boy Floyd of boxing websites, Flashy, flamboyant and pound-for-pound the best. Pretty Boy Floyd and I'm out!

thehype: Boxingtalk would like to thank Floyd Mayweather Jr. for taking time out to chat with us tonight
I love the comments in bold..

Wait, so Winky has gone from saying he doesnt' want another fight with Taylor to saying Taylor is running from him and he wants PBF as a tune up? Sorry, can't see any of that. And as far as Margarito goes, I have a feeling if Floyd destroys him, everyone will say Margarito wasn't that good to begin with, etc. and not give props that are due. Margarito already has 4 losses and if he's that real, he should take out Paul Williams who is undefeated and called him out before stepping up to PBF

Mayweather is the biggest bitch in boxing.

he talks about big fight after big fight, yet where are they? He has none to his name imo. Beating Gatti and Zab proves nothing.

no one is gonna fight Paul Williams until they have to. he is not well known, but very talented and skilled. a loss to him (if you arent a household name) guarantees you will almost never be one.

So then, why is Floyd getting flack for not fighting Margarito? Everyone saying PBF is ducking him, so I say why is Margarito ducking someone else? If PBF could get more money fighting someone else, why wouldn't he? All good though

What do you want from him? The man has fought and beat everyone so why the hate? Only person who wants to fight him is Margarito. But like I said, the way most people are, when PBF destroys him, and he will, you will all say that Margarito was overrated, blah, blah, blah, PBF doesn't fight anybody blah, blah, blah. Look at that man's resume. How are you gonna rip him for trying to make the most money he can? Cotto and Hatton want no parts of him, Margarito and Winky are just looking for payday's against him. I guess MArgarito can just be added to the list of people PBF didn't fight when he loses.

Im saying it now, before the fight, Margarito is overrated.

Im just pissed because of the way floyd talked about winky when in fact, Id be willing to bet my entire bank account that winky would beat him. The fight wont happen because of floyd and his money issues. The same exact thing roy jones used to do. Floyd will get his in due time and on that night im going to celebrate like its my 21st birthday.

If Winky didn't beat Taylor, I don't see him beating Floyd. And at this point, right now, coming off of a draw, Winky shouldn't demand half. 60/40 on this would be right since PBF is the draw and undefeated. Winky beats Floyd, he'll get 20 mil to fight Oscar. Boxing is a business and I don't see anything wrong with the top draws making and keeping their demands for higher percentage of their purse. I mean, it is afterall THEIR position that people are trying to get to, why shouldn't they get the higher purse for taking the most risk?

I think PBF beats Wright, I think he beats Taylor, I think he beats De La Hoya. And at least 1 of those three people he would beat in a manner that youd call them overrated. PBF is the fastest and most accurate puncher probaby in the past 20 years. He's not what I would consider a power puncher but the kid when he fights makes it look like a video game where you are controlling him and the diffuculty level has been set to the lowest setting. He didnt beat Gatti, he painted a pictture on his face and body. I DONT EVEN LIKE PBF but to me hes the best pound for pound in the sport today. PBF fights Wright, beats wright, moves on to Fight Delahoya, beats him too, shuts up the critics. Wright in his loss wont know where to go. Someone is going to beat Taylor though, I dont think he's as good as what people want to believe.

HA!!!!!! Winky Wright beating Floyd. Sure guys. When Winky gets his 400 times before he knows what's hit em, then he'll think again. Winky doesn't have tremendous speed, has little power, has a face that swell's up when his dog licks him, and has good D. Problem is, his defense won't be close to good enough with Floyd's speed. Winky will be lucky even land a punch against Floyd.

Any fighter that has a chance against Floyd has to have tremendous speed first. Second, they have to have a steel chin, a steel face, and they have to be able to think on their feet. By round 4 PBF will have Winky figured out, and by round 8, he'd have hit Winky 16,000 times and the fight would be over, period. Floyd is flat out the single smartest boxer I've seen in a LONG time. If you can't get to him early and knock him out (no one's done that yet), then you won't beat him. Winky has what, 2 knockouts in the last 10 years? Let's be real, that's the only way he beats Floyd.

So Castillo has great speed now????? He (in many eye's) beat Floyd. And he certainly doesn't have tremendous speed.

I think if Winky fought Floyd he would have a shot at beating him. We all know he's not as skilled as Floyd but, Winky is still hell of a boxer. And the one thing that Winky has over Floyd is he's physiclly stronger then him. Winky naturally weighs, at least 20 pounds more then Floyd. Now thats a huge difference, even for a Floyd Mayweather.

Strength doesn't really matter if you can't get to or hit the other guy, I don't think Winky could get to Floyd enough to do damage, he'd be too busy defending. On the other hand, PBF IMO would be way too fast for Winky and would disect him. Jermain friggin' Taylor was getting off on Winky like nobodies business...just imagine what Floyd would do. I wish he would take the fight and shut him and all the other haters up.
