You make a good point. I can name two solid fighters he beat, Cintron and Lewis. With that said, I dont see him ducking anybody though. Wright isnt coming down to welterweight so that challenge isnt legitimate. Ishe Smith just fought for the first time in a year and hasnt beat anyone significant enough to justify a shot at a top 3 welterweight. Zab is suspended so he cant fight anyone for a year. Ouma is scheduled to fight this weekend so I dont know when he challenged Margarito (He may not even get past Powell this wekend) As for Spinks and Rivera, I dont think he was ducking them either. Arum and Maragrito were hoping that Gatti would beat Baldomir because that would have forced PBF to either fight or clearly duck Margarito. Now they can decide who the next fighter is now that PBF is off the table

PBF would have had no other legitimate choice for his next fight if Gatti won. He already beat Gatti....He wouldnt have made enough money with Spinks....Mosley and DLH arent fighting until 07. He would have had to fight Margarito. But Baldy won and he's the champ so PBF made the right choice. Still, im not so sure that PBF would have fought Margarito if Gatti would have won. He seemed unwilling to commit to that fight if Gatti won even though Arum was putting up 8 mil and more on PPV (which would have been PBF's biggest payday ever).

Paul Williams called him out on national TV, Winky was willing to come down to 154, Kasim was willing to come down to 147, Zab can fight just not in NV (and most states take their opinion highly), but he is currently promoting in Louisville,KY and signed to a new promotion company based there. There was talk he would fight Margarito in KY (home of Ali). Ishe I agree isnt legit or a draw but the contender stuff is more popular than ever. Spinks and Rivera need a win against a more popular opponent to get their names out there more. Cintron is a C+ fighter IMO and thats his toughest comp.

Now I do think Margarito ducked Paul Williams. Once word got out that he was thrown out of camp because he was dominating him in training, it hurt Antonio's rep a little.

Margarito is Arum's last hop at staying in the mix now, thats why he is hyping him up. He knows a loss to any of the guys I named means Margarito will never be heard from again.

I guess only time will tell, but I need to see Margarito take on a B level fighter at least to solidify his status, like Baldomir did against Gatti.

Let me ask you a question, Complex. If Gatti would have won two weeks ago and PBF decided to fight Spinks or some other mid level welterweight instead of Margarito, would you say he ducked Margarito? With a Margarito fight, PBF would have made the most money in his career and beat another legitimate welterweight thus adding to his rep and marketability.

P.S. I can blame Margarito for ducking Williams. That kid is an animal.

There are vids on youtube that show him getting killed in sparring sessions. A serious technician like PBF would dismantle him. Margarito would only have a punchers chance.

Question: Why is it game when Arum offers PBF 8 mil but not game when Smith, Ouma and Wright offer to fight Margarito when we know Golden Boy Fighters dont fight Arum fighters?

I'm not sure if that is the case. It may be, if it is, then its crap too.

This is why I wish there was some kind of legit rankings in boxing, but alas there arent. Now with Margarito out of the PBF race, he has to take on an oppenent. If he doesnt take on a known fighter, his stock will worsen.
