Mayweather vs Baldomir - Nov 4

"Pretty Boy" Floyd Mayweather and Carlos Manuel "Tata" Baldomir square off for the WBC welterweight championship in an HBO Pay Per View event on November 4 at Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. The announcement was made today by Dan Goossen, President of Goossen Tutor Promotions, which is promoting the event in association with Sycuan Ringside Promotions. "First of all, we're ecstatic to see the 'true grit' abilities and determination of the modern day 'Cinderella Man' taking on the likes of Mayweather, clearly on the road to becoming one of the greatest of all time," Goossen declared. "Secondly, Mayweather-Baldomir on paper, conjures up thoughts as a 'Fight of the Year' candidate and from a sports fan's perspective this bout represents the linear world welterweight champion in Baldomir going against the pound for pound best in Mayweather. Mayweather continues to face champions in higher weight classes. This spectacular extravaganza will determine if 'size matters' when Baldomir tries to impose his will and strength on Mayweather or will the "Pretty Boy" show the world once again 'size doesn't matter' when fighting the best pound for pound fighter in the world?"
    So much for Cory Spinks.

Re: Mayweather vs Baldomir - Nov 4

I got some serious ether for PBF haters, especially those claiming PBF ducked Margarito in spite of the rumored 8 mill payday.

      http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/box...ory?id=2549586

Although terms of Mayweather's deal with Goossen were not released, industry sources believe he will make at least $8 million, plus a percentage of pay-per-view profits. Mayweather rejected the same offer from Top Rank to face titlist Antonio Margarito.

Baldomir, 35, who will earn about $1.7 million plus a percentage of pay-per-view profits, got the fight over junior middleweight titlist Cory Spinks. Mayweather would have moved up to 154 pound for that match, one that was heavily criticized in the media when the negotiations came to light.

Not only is PBF getting a larger or equal purse, but he's fighting to the lineal title which will make him the legit 3 division champ if he wins. SMH at Baldomir doing in one year what Margarito couldn't do in 5. Marg should fire Arum.

Plus PBF was in negotiations to fight Tszyu but Kostya declined stating he didn't want to fight the rest of the year. So we can add Tszyu to the list of Mosley,Cotto, and Hatton who have turned down fights with PBF.
This is a post from a friend of mine from another board.

So despite not fighting Margarito, PBF got his $8M plus extras.
