He's right, he won the judges went the other way. Whether you like someone or not should have no effect on how you judge..

Whole press row had Toney winning as did the commentator, but the two judges had Peter by a 5 points, basically 6 .. smh giving him the fight...

A travesty if I ever saw one.
I went into this fight completely neutral. I was willing to accept Peter if he dominated because of the future implications, as he is so young and promising.
I also was aware of the possibility that Tony could win this fight, yet not offer the fight game the same positive upswing as Peter.
It was clear as day that Toney stultified Peter - Peter was completely out of his element. He was in the ring with a general who dictated most of the fight!
Every round took on a similar look: Toney placed efficient jabs and combos, while Peter threw many punches with bad intentions but missed most.

How can boxing expect to be taken seriously when debacles like this happen so often?

In some ways this reminds me of the Hopkins-Taylor fights. This time Toney played the role of the old guy on his way out, who pissed a lot of people off over the years, taking on the young more marketable up and comer.

Judging like this makes you want to give up on boxing.

Amazing what James Toney did tonight, unprecedented really. A true hall of famer

Toney got screwed. It is almost like Showtime wanted to hype Peter vs Maskeyev (sp? I know its wrong, but I'm tired). We really need major overhaul in boxing, 116-111? How? Crazy. Toney the smaller man, took all the shots, dictated the fight, made Peter look like an amateur with one good punch, not a boxer or even a fighter. A few times Toney was faking like he was hurt trying to lure Peter in. I am very dissappointed. I hope Peter lesrnd how to fight before he tries to win a title.

I actually felt like Taylor won those fights especially because he dominated a pack of rounds early in both fights, What rounds did Peter dominate tonight? sickening.

Guys, this was not a "robbery." For a definition of "robbery," please refer to Lennox-Evander I or Ike-Vernon among others.

This fight could have gone either way, and if you cannot see the argument for each fighter winning, you need to stop watching boxing because you don't get it.

What do you like? Judges are going to be the same way in their preferences. Do you like beautiful counter punching? This is what Toney did. But do you take away the emphasis when it has no effect on the receiver as he continually comes forward. Do you like the aggressor? Do you like who lands the more powerful shots? Should the person who hurts the other one more win that round?

Strong arguments can be made for each fighter and this was not a robbery just as it would not have been if Toney would have won.

I, myself, have no problem with the decision because I can see what the judges saw. Peter was never hurt once in the fight (and really has only been hurt twice in his entire career=Wlad), and Toney without a doubt was staggered at least 3 times during the fight. But if Toney would have won, I would not have had a problem either because the argument is also strong.

Toney is going to have a hard time getting fights now.

On a side note, I am sure he wishes he would not have ducked Wlad and taken the multi-million dollar fight, which he won't be able to get anymore.

Taylor didn't land any punches in 24 rounds. Jim Lampley said he was dominating the rounds, because they hate Bernard Hopkins and everyone watching bought into it. The first fight, Taylor won the 3 of the first 4, maybe all of the first 4, but he didn't win another round after that. From the 5th to the 12th in that first fight, Hopkins controlled it with EASE. Never even got hit and had Taylor running like a baby the last 3 rounds and still getting ROCKED. The 2nd fight was just Hopkins beating the boy.

If a fighter never gets hit in 24 rounds, he didn't lose.

I don't want to get started on those fights anymore, it's too frustrating. Sad that Hopkins' middleweight streak had to end because of politics. HBO is really pissing off with the whole Jermain Taylor thing. They signed him to this big fight deal, he's their young middleweight that they're hyping, but it's so frustrating. He's CLEARLY lost his last 3 fights and the judges keep giving it to him. Now they're going back to putting him in there with Junior Middleweights and welterweights.
