Those things you mention are tied directly to fatigue. Boxers reserve punches and clinch because they're tired or getting their *** whooped. What I hope for is a better fatige system that results in more clinching and less punches.
Shout out to The Watcher! Where you at bruh?

Eliminating rediculous specialty punches would be a great start. There isn't one boxer on this planet that had a 'stun' punch, or 'flash ko' punch.
KO's, stuns, knockdowns all occur from a perfectly placed punch based off of either fighters skills.

I know some people like FNRd3, but I think Ready 2 Rumble is a more realistic portrayal of the sweet science.
      Kudo should be fired immediately.

To be honest, the stun punches are really only an issue online but I see your point. Ive probably fought the CPU over 100 times and never had it use those specialty pucnhes other than a basic haymaker and I choose not to use it against the cpu. Still, to each his own.

With that said, I agree that a true boxing sim would be boring as hell and wouldnt sell. Also a game without real boxers wont sell either. Most people dont want to create a ton of boxers or have transfer kits to download boxers. The average boxing fan when faced with a choice of real boxers on one game and fake ones on the other would choose, the one with real boxers.

They sign their boxers to exclusive one year deals. Thats why there is a high turnover from year to year. For example, PBF was realtively cheap two years ago and thats why he was signed. However, after beating Gatti, I heard he wanted the cover and much more money and thats why he wasnt it round 3.

This is all a null point because the fact that its named Don King Boxing means that anyone signed to another promoter cant be in the game. I can see it now...Cory Spinks and Shannon Briggs on the cover.

Well R2R had their ridiculous super charged punches, but I thought the playabilty of the game was near non existent. I'm looking for a simple game with no parrying, fatigue penalties for missed punches or punches that get blocked, and ZERO damage if you block punches.

From a roster standpoint, they should stop trying to do multiple weight classes that just end up getting half assed or using one fighter and putting him in numerous classes. They should simply have a heavyweight class and a pseudo middleweight class. And 99.9% of the nation does not know the difference between a welterweight and a middleweight. Starting from scratch, they should aim for 40 total real fighters (20 heavies and 20 middles) and fake fighters mixed in that look like potentially realistic fighters. And if they cannot get every boxer they want at a reasonable rate, than EA is presenting an awful business plan/model to these boxers. And there is nothing that could convince me otherwise. I bet my life that I could get every boxer (Tyson and Foreman being the hardest) to sign on the dotted line at a fair rate.

There is a problem with that though. I think that the potential buying crowd for a boxing game is split 55/45. 55% casual and very light boxing fans who only care about the big fights and 45% medium to hardcore boxing fans who know the smaller weight classes. That 45% wants more than 20 lower weight fighters. They want the Barreras, Morales, Hatton, Cotto, Sugar Ray's etc.

Round 3 had 8 (?) heavyweights and I can only think of 5-7 that were missing that i felt needed to be in the game Louis, Foreman, Klitchkos, Norton, Lennox and for personal reasons Peter and Tyson. Thats only like 13 heavyweights. If we go any further its a reach. I dont think most people are dying to see Maskaev, Briggs, Ibrigamov or others like them.

I also think if you asked most of that 45% whether they would want Cotto or Maskaev, they would choose Cotto. I know you prefer the heavys but the lower classes is where boxing is at now.

I agree with you 100% the sport itself has a terribly low amount of hardcore fans compared to the casual fan...so asking a casula fan to buy and play a hardcore or simulation type boxing game is a hard sell!!!...

I just disagree with you considering the lower classes. Ratings, buys, etc... continually show that only a few have transcended to the general public. I am not going to try and throw percentages or whatnot, but heavyweights will and always will be the glamour division of boxing and during my short time online in Live, lightweights were never used. So, instead of getting into arguing about all that, let's for fun, just try and agree on a heavyweight roster. Being realistic, this is what I would pitch and be confident that I covered all my angles.

                    Joe Louis
                    Rocky Marciano
                    Sonny Liston
                    Ali
                    Frazier
                    Foreman
                    Holmes
                    Tyson
                    Lewis
                    Holyfield
                    Vitali
                    Wladimir
                    Bowe
                    Valuev
                    Peter
                    Toney

That's 16 fighters right there. Out of the 16, only Valuev and Peter have never been in a major release boxing game. I don't have Norton listed for a few reasons. First, other than a SD win over Ali, he never really did anything plus I think it is not necessary to go further into that era with the ones already listed. I am open to who you think should be added, subtracted, whatever....

And from a marketing standpoint, I think all the black/white/tall/shortetc...angles and groups are covered with that list.

See, I just don't think it needs to be a sim. I think it simply needs to eliminate everything unrealistic from a sports perspective (Mortal Kombat moves, etc.), everything from a boxing perspsective (parrying is not realistic, fatigue issues) and I think the game is fine with the current engine. Then just amp up the presentation, have a normal career mode, and the game is ready to go with an appropriate roster.

Yea you are right in that regard..FN 3 would be much closer to the desirable sim if they got rid of the parrying, and fatigue issues..add in some clinching , in fighting, and presentation and we got a game!!!..But remember this is EA we are talking about..so any changes would be incrementle from year to year..

I'm one of the biggest sports fan I know of and I search alot of sports videogaming sites(Like Title Bout Championship Boxing). In my research of boxing games I have noticed there are just as many, if not more adults who play sports videogames. A true fan of boxing would want a boxing sim,it's up to you to decide how boring a fight is(you control your man, don't you?!?). Boxing video gaming has alot of adults and purist who want it all; stats, rating and ranking. Don't say you don't want a sim boxing game;just say it should be a mode or we should be able to customize the way our game play(sliders)

I like TBCB but using their forums as a gauge of what the average gamer would want is bad. Its like using OS as a barometer. These sites make up 10% of the sports gaming world and our wants dont fall in line with the average gamer.

I agree that I would love if FN or a boxing game had sliders but most people dont want a boxing sim.

The first step toward making a game more "sim like" would be to increase the ability of the gamer to block more punches, even if just a little bit.

You misunderstood what I had written or you skimmed through it. I didn't use TBCB as a example, I go to many sites that have Fight Night or talk about boxing videogames and the majority are for a boxing sim to the contrary.Boxing is my life( I boxed for close to 15 years of it) I'm not just writing to disagree, but fans want more!
