So, instead of getting into arguing about all that, let's for fun, just try and agree on a heavyweight roster. Being realistic, this is what I would pitch and be confident that I covered all my angles.

    Joe Louis
    Rocky Marciano
    Sonny Liston
    Ali
    Frazier
    Foreman
    Holmes
    Tyson
    Lewis
    Holyfield
    Vitali
    Wladimir
    Bowe
    Valuev
    Peter
    Toney

That's 16 fighters right there. Out of the 16, only Valuev and Peter have never been in a major release boxing game. I don't have Norton listed for a few reasons. First, other than a SD win over Ali, he never really did anything plus I think it is not necessary to go further into that era with the ones already listed. I am open to who you think should be added, subtracted, whatever....

And from a marketing standpoint, I think all the black/white/tall/shortetc...angles and groups are covered with that list.

See I've actually see it different. When I've played online most people Ive fought used the middle or welterweights but i guess it depends on your experience.

On to the roster, I like everyone on their except for Valuev. Valuev hasnt won enough big fights and he would be a bitch to design for in the game. Kudo's dumb *** would probably make him impossibly tough just because he's 7 foot and huge. With that said, Peter hasnt really one a big fight either so if Valuev goes he should too. I would put Floyd Patterson in there also. If we are shooting for 20 heavies, I would add Sultan, Brewster and Briggs.

    Oscar
    Winky
    Trinidad
    Taylor
    Hopkins
    Tarver
    RJJ
    PBF
    Cotto
    Margarito
    Hatton
    Mosley
    Barerra
    Corrales
    Castillo
    Morales
    Pacquio
    Calzaghe
    Sugar Ray
    Duran
    Hagler
    Hearns

Now thats 22 right there and I'm leaving out a ton of good fighters. No Lacy, Ward, Gatti, Glen Johnson, Ouma, Forrest, Quartey, Vargas, Aaron Pryor, Aguello etc. Shoot, we cant even include fringe guys like Judah, Cory Spinks etc.

Out of that group of 30 lower weight guys, I would be happy if they included at least 24. Also EA could do what they have done in the Knockout kings series and sign lesser known fighters for cheap just to build up the roster. KK 2002 had tomato cans like David Bostice just to fill out the roster. If I could talk to anyone at EA or 2k, I would suggest that they stop focusing on gimmicks and just sign as many fighters as they can

You are missing my point. The majority of people who buy Fight Night dont visit boxing boards or boxing videogame sites. They bought the game because it was fun, loved the demo and because their favorite boxer is in it. Its the same reason why games like Madden and FN stay relatively the same each year even though sites like OS and IGN have people ripping it to shreds. EA and most video game companies could care less if the sports sim fan is unhappy because they have a ton of casual gamers buying the game.

After reading that article, it actually looks like they are NOT going with the idea of Don King. It looks like they din't like the angle this writer was going with and also didn't like the financial obligations. That's what I gather.

It doesn't make any sense to me. Here's a company with Rockstar underneath them and the "underground" rep that they have. Wouldn't that make an excellent angle for a boxing game? You could develop it into a complete storyline. Even go the way of Rocky. It just doesn't make sens for them to even consider Don King, a guy who is obviously looked down upon by much of society.

        Rockstar Games Presents: Rocky Balboa
Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.

Um, just got into this portion of the site. I'm glad that another boxing game is being made because darn I long for a boxing sim that just brings it. Looks like the basketball game is on the right track so I'm hoping for the next best thing. I can't, for the life of me, figure out why the heck they'd want to sign Don King in the first place though. Doesn't make too much sense seeing that he isn't really a positive to the sport. Or at least I see it that way. I think that what needs to occur is the ability of 2K to negotiate some good stuff to all the boxers they can get. A few busters wouldn't be bad.

However, I never played a Rocky game seeing that I wasn't too internet savvy as I am now. Don't hvae an XBOX at the moment because of this lame. It's on XBOX right? I might have to rent it a few nights and see how it plays. What's so good about it compared to the lackluster Fight Night??

I still own Rocky Legends on the XBOX. And I still prefer it to any EA boxing variation. I am also a huge Rocky fan, so it is hard to be objective.

But, I think the venues are much better, the music is much better, and the sound is much better. I think those are undisputable.

I think it has better personality than Fight Night.

Many will disagree on this, but I like the roster much better on Rocky (I love heavyweights).

I also like the fact that there is a "special punch," but it is no where near the ridiculousness of Fight Night.

I love the fact that the punches are mapped to the buttons and you can pull off various head/body combos rather easily. I think fatigue is better implemented in Rocky also.

The only downside I have for the boxing aspect is that the movement of the boxer is better in Fight Night.

Both games, at least the XBOX versions, reviewed well.

Hey, I was looking at the commercial for the Rocky movie and could only think about one thing. Tarver will be in it. Hey, maybe that's a neat way to get some of the players in. I wonder when it will come out. By the way, do the Rocky games play BC on the 360??

Legends does for sure. I have not encountered any framerate issues with it whatsoever in little time I have played it on my 360.
