Best PS2 Boxing Sim
I have all three Fight Night titles, but I've heard one of the early KO Kings games were the ultimate sim. For anyone who has played all of these, which is the most realistic title to get. I may go back and pick up the KO Kings game if I can find out whether it's 2001 or 2002.Tags: None -

KO Kings is a better sim than fightnight. But VB2 is better than both, but you have to import from Japan.Chalepa Ta Kala..... -

I picked up the new VB game that was just released in the US for $9.99 new. It was VB: Fighting Spirit. Anyone know which of the two Knockout Kings offers the better experience, sim-wise?Comment

After getting to grips with Knockout Kings 2001, learning the control set-up, and practicing my combinations, I have to say that Knockout Kings 2001 is a lot of fun. Simulation boxing games have been in the most part difficult to like. On PlayStation the games simply didn't look good enough or move fast enough. Now, with the first KK on PlayStation 2, EA has definitely looked at all of the most crucial aspects of the game and has done the best it can do. The result is a very satisfying boxing game. Playing in career mode is deep and truly teaches and trains you to box better, and the Fantasy Fights are perfect for fans of boxing who have always imagined boxing as their idols.
The game isn't perfect, but it's well-polished and very well rounded in every aspect. Most combinations are fast, and boxers come at you with different boxing styles that you have to adapt to in order to win the match. I was actually quite surprised at how much fun this game is. If you're a boxing fan, or if you liked Knockout Kings but wanted more, then you should definitely go out and buy this game. Heck, if you're a big fan of great abdominals, then you should get this game. And if you want to see Sugar Ray Robinson beat someone who wasn't even alive when he boxed, like Lennox Lewis, you need to get this game.Comment

Was KK 2002 more arcade like? Is this better than VB ? (how and why...?)Comment

Re: Best PS2 Boxing Sim
Just wondering about KK 2001 -- I'm sure I owned it and progressed to 2002, 2003 etc ... ---- Is it still really the best overall sim? I have FNR 3 for the X360 and not sure I could go back in terms of Graphics and the animations....

I can verify that 2002 is brutal and that is putting it nicely. I bought it 6 months ago because it was the only game that had the Klit bros and Lennox. It was brutal. Though I am pretty sure it was a new engine compared to 2001 and 2002 was really the first EA boxing title that I can remember that started the shift to arcade/Mortal Kombat style of boxing.Comment
