I cheated and looked at the results, so I am just casually watching it. That was a perfectly timed punch.

Lucky too. Minter was wiping the canvas with Curiel the whole fight.

I think there was under a minute left in that last round. I let out a big "Ohhh!" when it happened.

Yeah 41 seconds left. When I first watched the relplay it looked like minter's head had banged against his knee on his way down. Good for Curiel glas to see that he was able to pull it out. That was also Minters first fight past round 6 and it showed in those last two rounds.

Yep. Way too many people don't understand the dramatic impact it can have on a fighter to enter rounds he is not accustomed to going. And this gets multiplied when the other fighter is actually hitting back and trying to win. Minter was getting ridiculously careless.

And though I am not positive exactly what the trend is in Britain, but Europe in general does not weigh heavily on sparring a lot of rounds.

For instance, one of the first things Manny changed with Wlad was the amount of sparring which went from very little to over 100 rounds. And for a fighter that routinely shot his load way too quickly, the difference is dramatic in the evolution of Wlad.

So it would be interesting to see what the workout plan for Minter was.

That was a good fight, not often do you see a fighter who has to have a knockout to win in the final round actually get it. That's like a buzzer beater in basketball or a walk-off homer in baseball, it just doesn't get much better than that and add that to the fact that it happens much less in boxing. Both those guys faces were pretty messed up, fun fight to watch.

I just happened to have it on ESPN today when that Curiel fight came on. WOW what a finish. Very unexpected.

Did anyone notice that Alfonso Gomez has an upcoming bout with Arturo Gatti (7/14/07)? I thought that was interesting.

Meanwhile, Sergio Mora hasn't fought in nearly a year.

Manfredo lost to Calzaghe a few weeks ago and looks to be fighting a no name this month.

Just a few things I saw on www.boxrec.com while bored at work.

Mora is a ****ing idiot. He had a deal set to fight Jermaine Taylor in 2 weeks for the recognized middleweight championship but he walked away from the deal because he didnt want to fight in Memphis.

I'm looking forward to the Gomez fight.

Ishe Smith fought on HBO a few months back. He lost by decision.

Yep. Mora has lost all sense of reality.

I didn't know that about Mora. Wow.... That is pretty bad. He should consider himself lucky that Taylor was even considering getting into the ring with him. IMO, he doesn't deserve that shot.
