EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.

Re: Bob Arum speaks the truth about Mayweather

Sorry I'm late to this party...

I feel like Floyd has nothing left to prove to anyone. He has beat the best boxers around for him. I mean really what does fighting Cotto give him. He is already the P4P king. Outside of fighting in NY during the puerto rican day festivities what kind of PPV numbers is Cotto gonna bring him. He may seem greedy but for all the crap money Floyd made for so long in the game he has every right to take the fights that he wants on his terms. Neither Cotto or Margarito has really earned the status of calling out PBF. Margarito lost to Williams who lost to whatever that guys name was. Cotto is a great fighter but look at his last 6 fights nothing special a small Malignaggi, an outclassed Judah, an aged Mosley, and a vastly outskilled Gomez. Are any of those guys on Floyds level? Hardly. And floyd has stated that he doesn't owe these guys a shot at him and I tend to agree with him

Bob Arum is doing what a good promoter is supposed to do get the biggest payday for his man, but he really has no ammo to goade (sp) Mayweather into fighting his man. Mayweather has nothing to gain and everything lose. So at his age he is smart to only fight for the big pay day. If he should lose to Oscar then the 3rd fight would be a PPV wet dream for both of them.

At least that is how I see all this.

I'll love to see Cotto Fight Ricky Hatton first.

Hasn't Ricky pretty much ruled out welterweight? Cotto's not going down to 140 so it's not going to happen.

Gamboa is a MONSTER. I will co-sign him being the future of the lower weight divisions. He's dynamite with a dynamite amateur background too.

              This is hilarisou.

-Arum's agenda is no different than Floyd's. They both want to make as much money as they can off boxing. Arum is just working. This is how interest for fights is created. Nothing to see here.

-I never blame athletes for going for the money, especially boxers & football players. Their sports are too risky to not think about the money.

-Folks have to understand it's boxing. This argument against Floyd will last until he retires. No matter who he beats, there will always be a new name to claim he's ducking. And all modern fighters do it. Floyd would be silly to not mix in money fights with the riskier ones.

Plus look at Gamboa's individual fight record -- the kid puts guys away quickly. He's achieved KO's or TKO's in the first or second round in six of his nine fights.

Granted, the level of competition hasn't been that great, but he still has a finisher's instinct combined with sick speed.

Great post. That's what I'm saying. Mayweather will be vilified and discredited for any fight he wins no matter who it's against because people just don't like him as a human being. If he beats Cotto, trust me, people will either say something like "Well Cotto really never had a chance anyway" or they will find the newest flavor of the month's bandwagon. Floyd knows this by this point so he's thinking if I'm not going to get respect then I better get paid.

You won't hear that from me. If Mayweather beats Cotto, my respect for him will increase because he will have triumphed over the legitimate No. 1 contender in his weight class.

I think it's such a big money game, that I wouldn't blame Mayweather if he took on De La Hoya again for $20 million(it's got to be the Mexican fan base factor because I wouldn't pay 5 dollars to see that rematch) instead of Cotto. I don't dislike Mayweather as much as I used to, and I wouldn't bet against him unless he goes up to light heavy.
Light Heavy? Pretty Boy Floyd? This guy was a natural Lightweight. Moving up to Junior Middleweight was a stretch. He would lose too much going up to Middleweight or Super Middleweight. A move to Light Heavyweight doesn't even seem possible. Although I believe he was 159 or something for Wrestlemania, I think he'd lose a few more pounds for a boxing match. At this point in Floyd's career, I'd be surprised if Floyd checks in at anywhere outside of the range of 145-155. Keep in mind, he weighed in at 150 for a 154 limit in the first De La Hoya fight. I would say Junior Middleweight is possible again (154 limit) for the second Oscar fight, but can you honestly see him moving up past that limit?

I mean he moved back down to 147 for Hatton and probably would be there for Cotto. Oscar - Floyd II would probably be at a 154 limit, but I just don't see Floyd signing a fight at a weight higher than that.
