Re: Don King Presents: Prizefighter Preview: Eurogamer

i knew having these 'rocky legends' dev's would eventually end in disaster. I now think that they don't WANT to make a good game,...they want to make a crappy game and tease us that it could have been good.

i'm no longer following this, may rent it, if the demo is compelling enough to warrant further play.

    what a colossal phail.

This game sounds exactly like the first 'prizefighter' on sega CD, your name 'the kid' was even the same...are they trying to use that trademark as well?

yeah ******** i know. Well at least if you were a fan of that game you'll love this one.

With a career mode just as linear as that one too.

What pisses me off is the audacity the producer of this game has to call out fight night and trash talk about dropping the ball. Even if the gameplay is incredible 2k still DROPPED THE BALL.

Ronnie is actually like their Head PR guy. When i got the mod position over at the 2k forums, he talks about what they want to do in the near future with the forums. He's pretty much all business. He's a cool dude.

Will we be able to compile a record of 30-14-2 in this story mode? I just wish it would be like an open career where you could just have an average career if you are not on your game and never even fight for the title if you don't have the skills. VB2 had the career mode perfect, totally open with hundreds of boxers in each division. On top of that they had a seperate linear story mode included in the game. That was on the PS2 6 years ago.

No offense guys but some of you need to let go of that Victorious Boxers ****. Yes, it had a good career mode but its not fair to compare VB to PF when its PF's first release. I think some of us expected too much when we heard this game was going to be released. Now that its been confirmed that the game isnt "one and done" I'm OK with it. All they need now is to allow me to create a large number of CABs and I'm happy.

Also, while I like VB's career mode, I found the actuall game play to be too fast and unrealistic.

Well to be fair, we put up a huge wishlist on every forum we could and a major complaint with fight night was the career mode with no rankings, etc. We also referenced VB career mode with the rankings system, training, multiple belts, etc. I thought it would be a slam dunk that we would have gotten a career mode. So now I have to do what I can to bring it to their attention that we would like a career mode and thats the best example I can give them.

I agree with you though that the boxing in there leaves much to be desired. Everything would literally end in KO, sometimes in the first 2 rounds.

I hear what you are saying but just because there is a wishlist doesnt mean that they had the time or resources to put everything that you wanted into this game. Also, the only thing we have been able to confirm is that there isnt multiple belts. The game has training and it very well could have a rankings system. The "one and done" statement looks like a misstatement so it appears there is a career mode.
