Off the subject, but one of my favorite photos on the cover of Ring. Not because Morrison lost but because of it's Marciano-Walcott effect.

Those covers are classic. Would have been interesting to see what would have happened to Morrison's career if Mercer didn't catch him. That was one of the most messed up fights I have ever seen and it is one of the first fights I show people at the house when we go through fights. Morrison was winning pretty easily, got hit flush, and then his body got caught on the ropes...plus the combination of a sleeping ref...and he just got drilled. It was the worst beating I have ever seen. Part of me thinks Mercer was a sadistic SOB for not stopping. I have seen many fighters pull up and stop. He knew...but didn't care.

that series of punches was very brutal and mercer would have kept going if the ref hadn't stepped in.

I can't blame a fighter for not backing off in the heat of battle. Mercer was probably thinking he didn't want any chance of tasting Tommy's left hook. Don't get me started with classic covers.

Too bad most of the early ones were drawings. It's not like they didn't have cameras back then.

Man I hadn't watched that Mercer knockout in a long time. I forgot how brutal it was.

Great!!! at last Tyson is brawling back. But if they want this to be a blockbuster and world wide appeal. It shoud contain boxers like JC Chavez ,JM Marquez of Mexico.Felix Trinidad,Miguel Cotto of Puerto Rico.Alexis Arguello of Nicaragua. All time great fighters like Henry Armstrong,Willie Pepp,Hearns,Foreman,Dempsey,Louis.Put some boxers to challenge Pacquiao like Juan Diaz,Nate Campbell,Valero,Hatton,Barrera,Morales.I can't wait to brawl

Re: Fight Night Round 4 Announced, Mike Tyson Featured

Tyson's body of work is hard to grade. To be fair we have to go with what is in front of us, and that is a career ruined with losses to Douglas, Lewis, Holyfield, Williams and the great McBride (sarcasm). Those were all named opponents (except for McBride).

Prior to his loss to Douglas, Tyson was a pure beast. Most marvel at his power but what was amazing was his head movement and ability to get in close with taller fighters. He had a swift bob/weave and protected what many call the best chin in boxing.

Had Tyson continued to prepare and focus, who knows where he might have ended up but with all the easy wins, hype, and fame...an unstable person like Tyson was doomed to fail. I have never seen a guy taken so advantage of in my life. I mean his trainer had a glove full of ice at his bout with Douglas!?! A fighter of his caliber and titles cant have a decent ice pack at ringside?
