I tried the shuttle run but could not get moving fast. After that I auto-trained everything for my first fight.

Entertaining game even in exhibition mode. My simple mind has me engrossed in exhibition battles between Berto and Pavlik. Pavlik's true right hand power has to be generated through Stepping Punches (I prefer the term step-in punches-Right Button+Face button for punch). The CPU likes to throw them bombs, and I don't take care of them like I should. The adrenaline meter-signature shots are a good part of the game. I wish the stats showed # of signature & stepping punches.

Its ok so far but I cant believe there are only 5 CAB spots and there doesnt seem to be a workaround. Also the game doesnt have an instant replay option or multiple camera modes.

there is definitely alot of strategy involved. Most of my fights so far have gone into the later rounds. I had to wear down the other guy. Game has a big learning curve. Not a big fan of the jab though. It doesn't seem to keep the other fighter away like it should. I get hit alot while I am throwing it. The pace is a little too slow too IMO. FN was too fast and this is just the opposite. Right now I really don't feel like I have total control of the fighter since the controls are sluggish. Need to play more though.

                  Re: Anyone get prizefighter yet?

No option I see to turn off the hud.
I just lost my last fight in the 10th and final round in the career mode. It was a great fight, the scorecards had us tied going into the last but he put me down twice. I wasn't getting up the second time. It didn't end my career, I can rematch the guy or try to go for two other guys.

Some things I have noticed so far:

-not much to the in between of rounds. Just a cut scene with each corner saying one phrase. Don't know if that will change as you go to bigger venues. no cut or damage guy so far.
                  - there is facial damage, ie swelling and red/purpleness, but I haven't seen any cuts yet.
                  - at least to me it is damn hard to clinch. I don't know if I am doing something wrong or not...
                  - The crowd chants when close to being ko'ed or getting ready to ko your opponent are a nice touch.
-the rounds at default in career mode are 1:30. Don't see a place to change it. It seem about right though.

Heel, you just nailed how I am feeling about this game. It is a good game, don't get me wrong. I feel like the damn CPU is too powerful. I have been trying my best from any button mashing because if you button mash on this game, you are a goner. I have gone about 4 rounds at the most before I get knocked out. LOL!

I am very impressed by the presentation and those complaining that the game looks bad, time to get your eyes check.

Did anyone else notice when you fight in the gym, there is a guy in a white sweat suit that looks like Sylvester Stallone.....except he has a beard?

Bottomline candy, you recommend dropping full price on this game. I'm down for a boxing sim if that's what it feels like to you and others.
EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.

I'm a huge boxing fan but I cant recommend buying the game. Its maybe too sim in that in order to keep the punch counts low they made it sluggish and unresponsive. I would rent it first.

                          Re: Anyone get prizefighter yet?

got the game an hour ago...

played 3 games...i'm still learning and so far it's much better than I thought. just the fact that there is no parry move ala fight night 3 makes it better for me.

My only concern so far is that the cpu seems way overagressive. Even the heavyweights are huge sluggers. I'm still hoping that this is a product of me sucking at defending and moving.

I also tested out playing against chris john...who ppl say is not a slugger. But the fight i had with him he was just attack attack attack. Due to this, it was ME who always went backwards. Even when I tag him with some combos, he never backs away.

So, due to their behavior, the cpu averages maybe 75 punches a round and this is 2 min rounds mind you.

So for the people who have played more than me and gotten better at the defensive aspects, are the cpu still uber aggressive or are they more methodical.

I don't want to be the only one backing off, it'd be nice if the cpu employed some evasive tactics.

                          thanks

Stay off the ropes...The AI attacks anytime you are near the ropes. I just fought Nate Campbell and he only attacked when I was on the ropes. In the middle of the ring he moved and backed off.

                              Re: Anyone get prizefighter yet?

I can 100% see what I some people hate this game and I can 100% see why some people are loving it.

Me, I am really enjoying it and I am liking it more as I keep playing.

I made a Wlad that is pretty spot on and I am at my first classic fight in the career mode.

There is a steep learning curve. If you do not want to block, you are toast.

This game is MUCH MORE SIM than FN. Not even close.

As far as the sluggish complaints, I don't totally agree. In FN, you could rattle off punches regardless of connection or foot placement. In Prizefighter, it keeps the physics in check and doesn't allow punches to be thrown sometimes because your body is out of balance. A few times it still comes off as a little sluggish, but I would say it is about 10% unexplained and random. The other 90% it comes off as sluggish is because I did not make the right move or what have you.

Not amazing, not terrible. Really enjoying it and I would say it is a solid boxing sim and easily an 8.

No parrying and a much better roster than Fight Night 3.

Ninja, I would recommend what aholbert says and rent this first. It is a good game, but there are things like the difficulty even at Amateur level that is driving me nuts. I'm not even button mashing + I am blocking like crazy and I still get my tail whooped.
