Now if we say "Give us the option to change the round length in career mode," they may take that a little differently and try to patch this.Comment

I would like to have the option as much as you would my friend. I just think that if people scream "Fix that bug," 2K will just reply, "Its not a bug, we did that on purpose."
Now if we say "Give us the option to change the round length in career mode," they may take that a little differently and try to patch this.
Maybe it wasn't even 2K. Maybe the Venom project manager made that decision.
We shouldn't even be talking about wanting that option. It should simply be there and it isn't. I realize i probably hold sports games to a higher standard than most, and in some ways that is bad. But it's not wrong and if anything it will only help make games better and more user friendly down the road. I don't like the idea of "patching" a console game. It should just work out of the box perfectly forever.Comment

You're absolutely right, you should have the option to change the time and all that good stuff - but its not a bug.
I mean, if that is what you choose to call it, then that's cool, its still a free country last I checked. but what you're describing is a design flaw, and even that term is a bit subjective since users may actually prefer to have their round time cut in half (i'm certainly not of them)Comment

I don't even care if I am right or not. Frankly, I could be wrong. The designer producer project manager or programmer may think I am wrong for saying it is a bug. That is how designers think. Once the design docs are written, the producers and project managers try to abide by that when building the game engine and interface when giving the programmers their work.
If you design a first person shooter, where you are not trying to re-create or simulate a sport, saying something like what I said probably isn't a bug, because there is no metric you are trying to re-create.
When it comes to sports games, there are such things as 'Rules' bugs. This is a rules bug. When developers spend an entire development cycle creating a realistic, deep high production values boxing engine like Prizefighter, any tester who cares about the value of the product would realize this is a Rules bug and would create a bug report.
Whether or not it will get to dev in time the tester has no control over. All the tester has control over is the fact that they get that information to dev as fast as possible with enough time to fix.
Some people may enjoy going through the career mode in 1:30 rounds. But that doesn't change the fact that a boxing round takes 3:00 long. That is the rules of boxing. Always has been the rules of boxing. This game even has an in-ring referee with apparently clinches (don't know how realistic they are as I don't have the game yet).
I haven't even confirmed if you in fact cannot use 3:00 rounds in career mode. i am just relying on what I read on this board. But it is worth the time to explain why this is important.
It's important because if it's not a bug, then we as gamers will learn to accept these things, and will eventually buy anything and put up with any quality of product. I realize some people don't care enough to even think twice about it. They just play through career mode with the 1:30 rounds and have fun. And good for them. Maybe I'll do that too and enjoy it as much.
With the Wii version coming, we will see what changes between versions.
To me, there will always be a problem in that career mode. Whether it's a bug, an issue, a design flaw, whatever you want to call it. In a retail game, that option should be in there. Not only that, in my opinion it should default at 3:00 throughout the game. This should go without saying and I hope the Wii version has this interface.
It's not even about me being right or wrong. It's about us not ignoring this issue and getting it in the game. I'd rather not have a patch either but realize that that is probably the only solution to solve at this point. If anything else hopefully in future version this will not be problem.
I will probably still buy this game soon just to check out Exhibition Mode. Kenny Norton vs Larry Holmes. I guess I will have to unlock then first. And the venues.Comment

yeah right.. it turned into a debate over the definition of "bug"
I will try when I get home and see how it works, but I haven't really had a problem with the 90 second rounds. If you let the computer roll on you why would he back down? Once I started playing better "D" I starting getting more realistic fights. Sometimes KD's are an issue but not all the time. Last night I had a 1 kd fight go to the cards.www.simgamingnetwork.com Come join our leagues!

Anyway, I am seeing way too many punches thrown by the CPU on 3 minute rounds. I will stick to the 1:30 because I am getting excellent numbers that way. Also, other posters have been correct. When defense "clicks" for you, you can keep the CPU off, and really control the fight with your jab.Comment

Re: 3 min rounds in prizefighter gives a much better boxing pace.
You have to move around alot for the numbers to be somewhat accurate. Gotta dance around a bit, If you back off by dancing around the CPU will as well. He will take a step or 2 back and just either wait for you to attack him or he will attack you (duh, only 2 options i know). You just cannot stand toe to toe with them. Ya will get killed if you dont know how to throw punches and combos like they can.Comment
