Major Stat Bug In Prizefighter Online And Offline

OK, if I'm a troll I'm the most devious troll ever the way I've been praising this game. Then I got online and although the crappy scoring is evident I noticed the last two fights my opponent got credit for a lot more punches landed then he should have. So I went offline powering up two controllers and CAREFULLY measuring out 25 JABS for Pavlik and 18 HOOKS for Berto. Take note that these punches were thrown with 90-100% power (not noticeably reduced by stamina loss). Not only did Pavlik win the round when he shouldn't have (18 power punches beats 25 jabs any day of the week), but rather then credit Berto as going 18 for 18 the stats had him going 18 for 36. Forget collision detection, these were all left hooks and I took exactly 18 swings at the head, all connected. HMMMM.......

Doubles "punches thrown" for uppercuts too. Jabs and crosses are counted correctly.

Well, that would explain why I always see that I have thrown more left hooks than left jabs. This needs to be addressed.

I think if you take a closer look, you may find other problems with the stats like head shots vs. body shots. I looked at some stats last night and it didn't seem to be tallying correctly. It sid I had landed 2 headshots when I had landed alot more than that.

So basically, if you have enough stamina in this game, just jab your way to victory. Talk about an online cheesefest..............

I think due to this terrible malfunction that even cheesers will stay away. The good news is that this is a MANDATORY do over, be it by patch or new game.
At least for me the game is unplayable online.

What do you mean by mandatory do over? The developers don't even know this problem exists, and probably nor do they care. This game is going to be a flop for them financially.

If they were going to patch anything, I think it would be the stats of the real fighters. Man did they foul those up.

I hope they fix this bug but have there ever been a boxing game with good scoring?

At least in boxing games past the punches have been counted correctly. This "double punches thrown" counting does not exist in single player exhibition-don't know about career mode.

My mistake-the double counting of punches thrown for hooks and uppercuts does not exist ONLINE.

So does that make this game legit online? Seems like the career mode is more like a "story mode" type aspect, seemingly fit for how they kept describing the game as street fighter-esque (though i know that's not what they meant). So I probably won't play that too much. But it does seem like this game would be a very fun boxing sim online and could sway me to buy it. Though I got pretty scared when you said the online scoring and such were a gamekiller for you...
I wish everyone talked like Larry Merchant.

There is still a major online problem. Essentially a round is won if you have more Punches Connected than your opponent. If it is within 2 Punches Connected the round is a draw (10-10). Hurting your opponent, and having a significant edge in power punches will not help you on the scorecards. The only balance to this very bad scoring criteria is knockdowns and/or knockouts. If you are brutalizing your opponent with step-ins and adrenaline shots maybe you'll be awarded with a 10-8 round or a stoppage, but that's unlikely to happen unless you set it for 12 three minute rounds and by that time a jabster will be so far ahead you'll need a KO to win. My last online match I won easily on points but put together enough power laden adrenalines and step ins that I should have registered a knockdown, but wasn't even close. It was set at 7 two minute rounds.
                      PS-The uppercut needs some VIAGRA.
