Yep, my tivo is doubled up tonight and tomorrow, plus I have to locate a Euro feed for Kessler tomorrow.

My MMA watching is on hold until the Affliction card. That is going to be off the chart.

And for those that care, Miranda has scored two wins already:

        1. Abraham is a half a pound overweight. Will be easy to lose, but still a distractor.

        2. The fight has a no name Florida ref. HUGE win for Miranda, who is under Seminole Warriors Promotions.

I haven't paid attention to how much post weighin weight Miranda usually puts on, but that is by far the most ripped I have ever seen him. Combined with King Arthur's first stateside appearance, man do I want to go with Miranda in this one. But I am sticking to my broken jaw theory...

Abraham overweight huh? Only a pound but not a good sign. More times than not, it shows a fighter's lack of focus and committment during camp. But I think Abraham will be ok.

I am going with Miranda in this fight, setting up a trilogy and huge pay day. I just hope its as grinding as the first one or better.

But on the subject of this week, how about this year of boxing has been GREAT. Lots of named fighters are getting in the ring with each other. I love it!!!!

Agreed. A true pick'em if I can ever think of one. The only thing that sucks is this is really leaving Pavlik out in the cold. Kessler is on Arum's short list for Pavlik, so I wouldn't be surprised if that happens if Miranda wins because of the brutal KO Miranda suffered at the hands of Pavlik.

Like you, I really don't care who wins, I just want a fantastic fight.

And yes, it is shame more media has not picked up on what is actually happening in boxing. A great example is Taylor-Pavlik I and JC-Hopkins. Both of those fights should have received tenfold more coverage.

Just in case anyone wants to feel nauseous, HBO is pushing for a Pavlik-Hopkins fight. The reason why I don't think it will happen is because Arum thinks Pavlik is his ticket back to network boxing, therefore, it will always be his ace in the hole. It is similar to what Wlad did back beofre the Brock fight when he was negotiating his new HBO contract. He was going to go to ABC until HBO buckled.

after the way hopkins performed in his last fight, that should be his last fight.

i don't think anyone is remotely interested in a hopkins-pavlik fight....jeff lacy-pavklik, allan green-pavlik are both better fights than hopkins...they should try and find winky wright and set up a match with him....anything but hopkins-pavlik.

Boy was I wrong about the Miranda vs Abraham fight. Good win for Arthur, would love to see him against Pavlik and Kelly needs these types of wins.

Just saw the Berto fight, he look explosive but I am very concerned about his short arms. Esp in a division with Williams, Margarito, and Collazo. Guys with good skill and long reach.

Just finished watching the HBO card.

I agree...I am not a fan of little fighters for all the reasons you stated. I think he would have serious problems with the bigs in the near divisions.

And Arreola will be disregarded because he is a latino american heavyweight (3 scarlett letters), but he is much better than people give him credit for. He has short and concise punches and goes nonstop for knockouts.

I don't get into all that, so I am not sure. If you don't have access to HBO or Sho, I guess you always have the youtube drawback.

I would watch all of Arthur-Abraham and all of Witherspoon-Arreola. Those were the highlights and every round of both were great.

This is a topic that interests me a lot.
I believe there's too many weight classes and in some cases the weight limit for some of them are so outdated.
With today's evolving human body and advancement in science when it comes to physical fitness, it's probably not too healthy for some of these guys to make 160 in some circumstances.

Both Pavlik and Abraham have had to fight at catch weights recently. And even Pavlik, who made 160 for his bout against Lockett blew up to 170 for the day of the fight.

If the Middleweight class were to get changed to 165 it might make a difference.
But I'm sure I'm in the minority when it comes to that kind of talk as it would seriously screw-up any kind of linear balance when comparing new fighters to old.

Eventually Pavlik and Abraham will move up to 175. That would be great as the LHW division would be awesome. But I just hope all these fighters moving up to that class can continue to carry their power with them.
Pavlik and Abraham are awesome to watch at 160 in that regard.

P.S. I really enjoyed the Alonzo Butler fight. He deserved the "L" but showed a lot of courage to get to the 10th.
And the Burnett fight was entertaining too. Poor giant had to beat the final bell to earn the "W". If that fight was 10 seconds longer he would have been KO'd for sure.
