Prizefighter - Do I just suck or is it the game?

I'm playing the demo as JC and I have yet to even come CLOSE to knocking down Tattoo.

The player movement stinks, it's impossible to block, and he seems like his punches do 10 times the damage mine do.

Can somebody help me out here?

Online is a pretty good game-single player is another story.

yes this game sucks *** i just won the world championship and i feel empty like i didnt do anything....you know what thats it im trading this **** in tomorrow with gta 4 for store credit towards my madden 09 anniversity edition!

Yeah, after browsing here for a while last night, it sounds like Exhibition mode is hard and Career mode is WAY too easy.

Damn, I waited excitedly for this game and it just plain sucks.

The collision detection is just awful.

There are definitily some issues with the game but I'm enjoying it.

I found that after fighting in career mode my skills have grown and I can take out the CPU during exhibition mode now.

But it takes time to know when to block, duck, counter, etc.
The AI is pretty smart and yes at times it seems they have a distinct advantage. But once you get used to the defensive side of the game, you'll get much better.

What I did was fight in an exhibition and only concentrate on defense. I didn't throw one punch.
Pretty soon I get fairly good at stepping in and out, blocking and ducking.

One thing that's a must is using the D-pad for dashing in and out. It's essential!

After you play it a while exhibition mode gets incredibly easy. I usually KO my opponent on the hardest difficulty in 2 rounds using 90 second rounds.

Career mode is a joke. Most times the opponent will be knocked down 9 times before the fight is over. I finished career mode on the hardest difficulty with a record of 40-0-0 39 KO's and knocked my opponents down 277 times. It was more like fighting an inflatable clown than real fighters, I'd knock em down, they'd bounce right back up.

Online is alright, but the scoring system makes it trash online. It doesn't count all the power shots, if you land the most punches regardless if they are jabs or uppercuts, you win the round. You can't cause damage to your opponent online and most people cheese and stand in the middle of the ring leaning back.

The only redeeming quality of this game is the 2 player mode on exhibition on the same console. The scoring is still whacked, but its decent fun.

Well you can cause damage online but a lot of it is attributable to adrenaline and step in punches punches. Good cheesers can sometimes get away with leaning back but step in punches to the body wear down most of them.

I'm just not getting it. There's no flow at all. It feels like a really, really slow button-masher.

I've tried dodging, I've tried blocking, it's just not intuitive. It's too mechanical.

To me it's like the difference between playing a real guitar and playing GH...

You might have gave this game the greatest compliment yet. lol. Just stick with it. There is a flow and you will start to feel it after time. But you have to go with your fighter's flow and then build yours around the tools your fighter has.

Not that Guitar Hero isn't a great game, I just can't play it. I've been playing guitar for about 25 years and to my hands and brain, the GH controls are counter-intuitive.

For some reason this game just feels the same.

And I can't stick with it. It's far too frustrating. I almost had Tattoo knocked down in the 1st round last night and he came back and hit me three times and took my ENTIRE life bar.

You'll get the hang of it. It'll "click" and you'll see whats what and start winning in no time.
