    FN Producer - Audio Answers

Sk88z Gets Inside EA SPORTS Fight Night Round 4 with a couple more questions for Producer Freddy Ouano

Sk88z - You're in charge of Audio. What can we expect to hear in Fight Night Round 4?

Our goal with FN4 audio, is to enhance the gameplay experience by reflecting the emotion and excitement that is heard in a real life boxing match. Like much of the rest of the game, we're building the audio from the ground up and have a load of new audio features for Fn4. This time around, FN4 will feature a 2-man commentary team (talent to be announced)that will bring a whole new level of intelligence and analysis to the game. The crowd will accurately reflect the size of the venue and respond to the action going on in the ring. There are several cool new features with music, and we are also filling out the soundtrack with a wider variety of music that will get the player in the "boxing" headspace from the get go.

Sk88z - Will the NIS cutscenes be the same as in Fight Night Round 3?

I'm a big fight fan, so I am aware that part of that big fight experience, is the lead up to the fight, the stoppages and the scenes after a big fight has been won. In FN4 the cutscenes will accurately and authentically reflect that experience seen on TV; we have them all and they are looking tight! And when I say authentic- Ali won't be doing the "running man" during his ring walk entrance!
Awesome stuff on the ring entrances, commentary and crowd reactions.

Thank God they are 86ing those silly ring walks. I could care less if they got rid of ring walks all together.

In other boxing games they just show the fighter in the ring with a record overlay like on HBO. Showing your record (Wins, Losses, KOs) and your last few fights. While your boxer is: Prayin in the corner, jumping up and down to stay loose, or just starring across the ring focusing on the fight ahead with this trainer whispering in his ear to keep him motivated.

I don't think they're going to rule those out.
I get the impression that the entrances will look more realistic and will very depending on the fighter.
So you won't see Muhammed Ali or Mike Tyson grinding strippers on their walk to the ring. Instead you'll see a steady walk and looking focused.

I'd really like to see the 'mob' type entrances when you make it really big. You know how when you watch a big fight and the fighters entering are so popular they have a huge entourage keeping the crowd back on the way to the ring. That would be cool.

I just checked out the trailer again, & when Tyson was coming out...he looked focused
couldn't quite tell if he had an entourage or not.

Two man commentary...Big Tig and who else?

"A dose of pain to the brain"

            "What a triple combo"

I just hope they ditch that stupid nickname stuff. Please anounce the fighters names.

"Oh what a punch by the Assassin. The Assassin felt that one. The Assassin really hit the assassin with that punch. The assassin looks like he's ready to go down....."

Which assassin, My assassin or the AI assassin? I better just button mash at this point to make sure its not me who goes down.......

I think we'll see custom music for entrances, which would be nice. I'm glad they're going to a two man team. Should be great.
Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.

                I wouldn't worry.
I read that the producers created that Ali vs Tyson as a promo vid. So it's not 100% what the game will be like.

I'd worry. Come on Money, this is the same company still that had Dungeons and Dragons meets boxing. Remember the Mythryl mouthguards +5 defense. Everlast gloves of Ogre strength +3 Power punch.

10 knockdowns per fight. No option to change round length so every fight ended in KO.

I'm worried. I won't be fooled again. You buy it, tell me its good, they can have my $60. Until then, we should all be worried that another year has gone by with no good boxing game.

I understand. But those were Kudo games. The Knockout King games were much better than what Kudo offered.
This team is saying all the right things. We're not hearing about a hip-hop artist as a ring announcer. Or the Burger King as a cutman.

I agree that we'll have to wait and see. But I have faith in this team. A lot of these guys came from other games like NBA Live and NHL. Those games were horrid up till a few years ago when they got producers that really, passionately cared about the sport.
Now NBA Live is being mentioned in the same breath as NBA2k. That's something I never thought was possible.
And the NHL series has been routinely winning awards the last 3 years. Again, something I never saw happening.

These guys are saying the same things as those teams did. That's why I'm very optimistic about Round 4.
