I won't even get into the "Boxing Vs. MMA" argument, it's old, and is really really an apples and oranges thing.
I completely agree. I don't know why boxing has to slam on MMA and vice-versa. They're two completely different sports in many ways.

I know people who love both. Myself, I prefer boxing because of the simplicity and the variance in action. I prefer a slug-fest over grappling.
But there are those that see the beauty in a great rear-naked choke or arm-bar.
    To each his own.

I like both sports. The difference, for me, is that it is a lot harder to watch a bad boxing match.

That's debatable. I thought the Ruiz-Holyfield trilogy was the most boring piece of sports entertainment ever filmed. And then I saw the Ken Shamrock-Royce Gracie fight from years ago. I fell asleep, had a nice 25 minute nap and when I woke up the fight was still going on and they were in the same position.

This is where tastes come into play. But for me, I can watch a boring boxing match any day over a boring MMA fight.

I think I'm the other way - a great boxing match at least this year wins my vote over a great mma fight...but boring boxing loses to boring mma - but boring boxing for me is bad boxing - when one fighter should be an amature and is fighting a world class boxer, it's embarassing and I can't watch and lose respect for the good boxer's camp. I change the channel when stuff like that goes on.

What do you guys think the best mma fight has been so far in 2009?
Liquor in the front, poker in the rear.

Lyoto Machida vs. Thiago Silva has my vote so far.

Sanchez vs. Stevenson was great. Boxing has the upper hand do far this year with the Mosley fight and the Marquez fight.
