    Would varying judges work?

What I mean is would having a pool of judges (approx 20) that are mixed and matched for fights. Maybe one likes defense, another counts punch counts, another likes power shots etc. Just a thought.

do you think boxers study the judges or do they even know whos gonna judge there fight?

i think it would ruin gameplay once you know which judge likes what

And one judge who doesn't even watch the fight they could call is Luis Collozo mode! I just watched the Hatton and Berto fights again. How any one could score that fight 116-111 for Berto is a travesty to boxing.

        1. How can it be worse than what we have had before. Its always on just punches landed, terrible. How could you not just memorize that Fight Night and Prize Fighter always judge the same way.
        2. In real life, boxers DO know the judges tendencies
        3. If you had 20 judges, the combination of 3 would be almost infinite. So even if you had them memorized its not like you will end up with 3 judges that all judge the same way so you still have to fight your fight.
        4. The judge factor will only come into play on relatively close fights, dominate the fight, you'll win, get dominated you'll lose regardless of judging styles.

This has been on my wish list since the beginning of time. We need a pool of judges, 10, 20, 30, the more the better. I can't believe someone would try to argue against this, unless you are a bitter Prizefighter programmer that's bent that their crummy game sold 15 copieas world wide. Unfortunately, I was one of the fools that bought it.

Not only do I think it would work, I think it would add to the lifespan of the game. I don't know about you & your friends, but me & mine will probably have 100s of Ali vs Tyson fights. Those fights being judged a bit differently each time should keep things interesting.

well thanks for answering my question i thought the fighters didnt know who would judge there fight before hand, well now that you stated that they do study the judges before there fight i do agree with you guys it would add depth to the gameplay if done correctly

ohh and i was a prizefighter fan before the game came out lol

This is a great idea(brilliant), not all judges look for the same things in fights. It works in Title Bout Championship Boxing well. You get realistic results from the different judges. In Title Bout you can choose let the CPU choose random judges or you can set them yourself.

This is a great idea no matter what the sport. In boxing its damn near mandatory. Im hoping this is in. In fight night 3 the 3 judges usually had different scores.

                  I really like this idea.
Even to the point where if you introduced managers or promoters some judges lean towards fighters signed by certain personalities.
We've all seen some very gracious Don King decisions in real life. It would be a cool dynamic in a video game.

I was thinking about just having judges with ratings (unknown to us) in like 5 areas:

                    Ring Generalship
                    Defense
                    Power Punches
                    Counter Punching
Holding (some REALLY penalizef or it)

You need Damage. I've seen a fighter win a round only landing a couple of good shots, but they rocked the opponent so much that the judges outweighed the 30+ punches landed by the other boxer(not talking about knockdowns, no kd's in the round).

Punches landed, some go strictly on punches landed.

Total punches, a little different than ring generalship, but whomever seemed the most active.

                      First to the punch.

The champion gets the benefit of the doubt in close rounds.

I could lits a few others, but that would add a little bit to the pool.

i would LOVE to see this type of variety with the referee's as well. Firepro wrestling had this...... that would just add SOOO much depth to the game.

I like these, especially the Benefit of the doubt factor and the a damage factor. Damage would be hard to program right? Maybe I am thinking too much.
