Please add a option to use the buttons Ea
I am a avid boxing fan who was very dissappointed in the demo. The main problem is not in the fact they went towards the analog control but the layout. There is too much room for error in the scheme. It is too hard to evecute a hook and i find myself going to the body when i wanna go to the head.if they would have made up for jab left for a L hook right for a r hook and down for a straight then half circles for uppercuts i think it would have worked better,I find myself thinking too much about accurately moving the analog it takes away from defense and enjoying the game let alone if you wanna play a friend, relative whoever and they dont have this game you'll have to send them to the tutorial.

It's pretty much the same Total Punch Control as all of the other Fight Nights...there's nothing different about it... -

Re: Please add a option to use the buttons Ea
I have yet to play it myself, as I quit playing fight night when they went the first introduced the TPC. I was talking to my brother the other day and that's the same reason he doesn't care for it. I mind you that these are college degree'd, high ranking military type people that dont like the TPC thing. So, it's not about adaptability or intelligence. It's just not a good scheme for heat of the battle. Im gonna rent and give a try when it comes out, but from what Im hearing all over the internet I dont think it will be for me. Look on the good side. NCAA Football comes out about 2 weeks after FN so there will be something to play.Comment

Re: Please add a option to use the buttons Ea
TPC is actually more natural than separate buttons, you can get off devastating combos if you know what you're doing. But the name of the game is practice & patience, there is a steep learning curve with TPC (just like real boxing) so it's going to take some time.
edit: plus hand-eye coordination is also a part of the equation. If someone has superior hand-eye coord. then of course they're going to have an advantage.Last edited by nuckles2k2; 05-15-2009, 08:07 AM.Comment

Re: Please add a option to use the buttons Ea
I agree 100%. I mean...you mimic the movement the arm makes, for the particular punch you want, with the analog stick. It's very easy to learn but tough to master. I didn't master it until Fight Night Round 3 on the 360, simply because the controller feels more natural to me. But I also had exposure to it in FN 1&2 on the PS2.

Re: Please add a option to use the buttons Ea
It's not about getting up to speed...it's about having options. This is a controller based video game, when we start doing virtual reality then we can really start mimicing punches...lol, until then let us have our option to use the buttons and may the best person win.
You shouldn't force feed your audience a feature when they've been playing a game the same way for years. If it's about the customer...give us options.Comment

Re: Please add a option to use the buttons Ea
i too hope they bring the buttons back...the analog is alright...but buttons is much better....stamina is what makes a game a button masher...the buttons have nothing to do with it. You should ATLEAST be able to throw the exact punch u want to throw when u want to throw it...period..button lets u do this. Analog is not reponsive enough for this...u STILL cant throw a 1-2 punch combo as quick as you should...this is because of the analog.
If u think it will be a problem online...make two separate areas for button punching and analog punching..simple.Comment

Re: Please add a option to use the buttons Ea
I agree that it is subjective, but I disagree that TPC is more natural than buttons. I have been in actual fights in my life and I never had to think how to throw a hook or uppercut. It's not natural at all and just because it mimics the actions doesn't mean that it responds to what you are mimicing.
I'm not one to complain about things like this very often but I think EA is making a big mistake by not including a button control option.Comment

Re: Please add a option to use the buttons Ea
Well Im going to try and endure because the game does have a lot of upside (if it was tuned correctly)
but I would really like an answer from them why buttons couldn't have been added at least for the Offline Legacy People????...would it really have hurt them that much Financially/Ethically to have them there???
Its not like it takes longer to decide on throwing a hook/uppercut compared to a jab/straight
To me its like we're paying for them not being able to make a game that would translate to buttons through appropriate animations/stats given the level of fatigue
You shouldn't be worrying about your stick movement....it should all be about timing your opponent and forcing him into your gameHere We Go Steelers!!! Here We Go!!!

Re: Please add a option to use the buttons Ea
I love TPC.. I have been in a few fights myself and didn't push any buttons to get the job done. I don't get how people think pushing buttons is "natural". Actually going though the motions with the control sticks feels more natural to me. Whatever floats yer boat I guess..Comment

Enough is enough with the petitions to bring the buttons back. They're gone fellas. That ship has sailed. Game up, stop your bitching, and practice until your thumbs bleed. EA has taken the game in another direction. Either get used to the TCP or don't buy the game. It really doesn't get any simpler than that. It's getting really tiresome to listen to you guys complain about the lack of buttons.
The game is genius if you ask me. It's as realistic a boxing game you're going to play. The more I play the demo the more I appreciate the physics of this title. Well done EA.Last edited by Bronk_Bonin; 05-15-2009, 01:08 PM.PSN: bronk14Comment

Re: Please add a option to use the buttons Ea
I hated the TPC in FN3, so I used buttons exclusively for that game. I got a bit upset when I found out that FN4 was removing the buttons option.
But after playing the demo, it really isnt that bad at all. You just gotta put in some work and effort. And TPC in FN4 is wayy more easier than FN3.
Although, it would be nice to at least give the option of using buttons for those who have trouble w/ TPC. More sales for EA if they did it this way..Comment
