Re: Blog: R.E.A.L. AI in FIGHT NIGHT ROUND 4
Well, a data-driven decision tree isn't really all that hard to implement in theory - I've seen lots of business apps related to sales force automation that use it. Whether or not EA can pull it off in a game and make it FUN is the real question.
In any case, does anybody realize what this might mean in terms of Legacy mode?
If the AI has decision points based on accumulated data, it means that (potentially) the AI can "watch" you fight and (again potentially) "learn" your tendencies.
The big thing is that it could force the human player not to play the game a certain way all the time. Up until now, boxing games all the way back to Punch Out were about the Human player memorizing the CPU "moves" and knowing how to counter them. This has the potential to make a Human vs. CPU fight more like a Human vs. Human fight - less scripted and more strategic.
The human player would have to approach every fight individually and prepare for THAT fight, because it introduces an element of unpredictability to the CPU fighter that wasn't in FNR3. In essence, it puts the shoe on the other foot - the CPU AI now has the potential to do what we've been doing for 20 years - memorizing our "moves" and developing a strategy to beat them.Recovering slider addict...Fight Night Round 4 caused me to relapse...Comment

Re: "I'll beleive it when I see it"
Its there, watch a CPUvs CPU fight.....and keep in mind its on the easiest level....fights arent the same, but hatton will have more hooks and uppercut attempts than Pac and Pac will have more straigthsand jabs, plus both fighters were able to keep distance dispite both being aggressive...haymaker parties arent there anymore(FNR2)Comment

Hence all the stats that are tracked in legacy mode...

Wow man it does sound too good to be true. but im very optimistic and hoping it works as advertised. It would be a super huge addition to legacy mode.
And it sounds like beating Tyson on G.O.A.T difficulty will be as hard as beating him in his prime. lol"I'm addicted to Video Games, and i chase it with a little OS." -Winston ChurchillComment

Even if it doesn't work as advertised, it's still a big step forward...Recovering slider addict...Fight Night Round 4 caused me to relapse...Comment

Which is better than any previous boxing title released actually, expect for maybe one of those text boxing games (which I've never played)Comment

Exactly, but I'm pretty sure its going to have some type of effect. If not tweaked to maximum capacity, it should at the least be in between 70%-90% effective.

I wouldn't rule it out, Madden and NCAA have kept separate user and dynasty/franchise stats for several years.Recovering slider addict...Fight Night Round 4 caused me to relapse...Comment

Re: Blog: R.E.A.L. AI in FIGHT NIGHT ROUND 4
Implementing something like this would be limited in exhibition mode, primarily because the AI would be infinitely complex if it actually could compile data AND USE IT during the same match. I would think it would be more realistic to compile the data in one match and use it in the NEXT match. One way that could be useful in exhibition mode is if they keep a database of stats and stuff at the USER level.

Re: Blog: R.E.A.L. AI in FIGHT NIGHT ROUND 4
Yeah. Like I said, Madden and NCAA already keep separate stats for the User and individual Dynasties/Franchises, so they should be able to do something like that fairly simply.Recovering slider addict...Fight Night Round 4 caused me to relapse...Comment
