    Quick boxing tips

Well I am in my legacy with a created boxer in the heavyweight division 31(29)-1-0. I am the undisputed champ and have KO'd Tyson, Ali, Foreman, Toney, Morrison and Chambers. All except Toney was a real challenge. What I love about this game is the realism. Here are some keys to success I use for a big heavyweights with a long reach.

    1. Know your boxer
    2. Know your boxer
    3. Know your boxer

I needed to drive this home. With me using a big fighter with a long reach(ie Lewis/Foreman type player) I stay outside use the jab and straight combos to weardown the health. I leadin in with the jab or straight. If the boxer is a peekabo fighter I sometime leadin with a body shot but I always try to finish a combo with a jab or straight. Why, because those 2 shots are my most powerful due to my long reach. So,for those who say the jab and straight isn't powerful it is probably because you are using the wrong type of boxer because all the licensed fighters I beat within the first 5 rounds peppering with the jab/straight combo. About 90% of my KOs are from the straight/jab

    4. Stay Disciplined

If you are throwing more than 5 combos in a row you will probably get knocked out period plus you are draining your stamina which you will need during the latter rounds as you still want some 'pop' and speed on your shots. You must do between 1-5 combos and get out while always protecting your head after your combo. Try and stay in the middle of the ring at all times and pushing off is your friend when boxers like Tyson start charging you and he was the most fierce boxer I faced as far as charging is concerned. For example, I throw a (jab-jab-straight and then block against a headshot as I get out of the boxer's reach) and reset over again. Also, once you have stunned your fighter don't go rushing in because they are just going to clinch. You haveto get within range close enough to lead in with the jab/straight combo without getting too close for them to clinch. Out of all the knockdowns against opponents in my legacy which is well over 80 I can remember only twice I didn't floor someone after being stunned.

    5. Ratings

Don't be intimidated by them as I was an overall 77 when I meet Ali and he was kissing the floor in the 3rd and I finished him off in the 4th. The key is make sure you are at least 85 in the following areas: right/left hand power, stamina, head/body toughness and chin.

FYI, my one loss was my fifth fight early in my career where I fought a guy 5' 11" just over 200 pounds and got Ko'd because I thought I could just beat him down since I am 6' 6" 245 lbs and try to slug it out and got caught twice with a nice counter uppercut in the 3rd and counter hook in 4th round. Which lead me to my last point which is know your opponent because if he likes to counter don't fall for always throwing the first punch.

Again most of these points are for guys with a long reach. I haven't created someone with a shorter reach yet but the stay disciplined applies to both.

Agree, great tips for outside fighters abou the jabs and straights...

Alot of guys say that the cross is weak but I dont see that....A cross inside is going to be weak but outside its not....

Also, early in the figth- try not to punch where they are blocking at unless you WANT to get countered....Switch up and pick your spots

I just uploaded a small clip of how I use the sweet science of BOXING with a counterpuncher with 72 reach(on GOAT) to EASPORTSWORLD(Meyer Lanskey)

Yep distance between you and your opponent is the key. That jab/straight must be fully extended and not smothered. This Fight Night has the straight/jab just perfect.

Just gave Tyson a rematch and I was knocked down in the first but I stayed disciplined and stayed on the outside and made him pay whenever he came in and won by KO in the 3rd round.

The beauty was by the 2nd round he was still charging but not as vigilante as in the first because he was eating jabs and straights everytime time.

I fought Kermit Cintron with Hearns and by the 6th round, he stopped coming straight at me. Guess he got tired of eating jabs between the eyes.

True, mostly for the higher difficulties. Great post, bud.

Great tips....it seems like most people are going for the taller type fighter in the heavyweight division to imulate Ali,Lewis, and etc. I'm going with the other type of fighter, the "inside" fighter, ala Tyson,Fraizer. Reason being is because I don't want to get use to one style of fighting. I want to get as many styles under my belt as possible.

Dont forget that even Tyson used his jab, of course not outside like Lewis but he did set up with it...

Also another tip for counter punchers..

Use head fakes(lean in a move your head) to dare your opp to throw at you(CPU or HUM) ala Mayweather

on higher difficulties, try not to single tge hook or uppercut to the head...they will get countered like that so put them at the end of combos...hooks and uppercuts to the body is ok as they wont get countered as much when its a lonely punch...

How do you do the bob and weave or as i call it that sort of duck, dip and slide move? I do it a few times a fight on accident and would like to know how to execute it. Too lazy to go through the tutorial again and its not in the manual. Thanks

This is my favorite way to fight, but for right now, it's causing me to get hit far too much in the body. My defense is still a work in progress.

QFT. You simply cannot throw uppercuts especially by themselves. You have to breakdown their defense and create an opening for a punch like that, otherwise you're going to be eating counters and ultimately canvas.

Rotate stick clockwise 12 to 3 or counterclockwise 6 to 3. This is a must for inside fighters otherwise you will be eating plenty of jabs or straights on the way in

That's the beauty of this game once I finish my legacy with my long reach heavyweight I am going to start another legacy except build an inside fighter then next a more balanced the next time etc. I will be playing this game for a while because everything I did in my other legacy must be unlearned and your whole game plan must change according to your boxer created.

                      Love this game!!

All people have to do is keep it simple.

Always keep your hands UP. In boxing, you always keep your HANDS UP. You don't keep your hands up, you take a risk of getting knocked out.

Guys who fight in the inside need to use the bob and weaves and lean, side to side, backwards to avoid punches. When approaching, keep your hands up. It's better to take a shot to the body, then a clean shot to the face.

Another thing use your JAB to set up EVERYTHING. Anyone who trains in boxing knows the jab is the foundation.

Practice different combos, combos that involve hitting the head and body.

It's always good to mix it up, whether an outside fighter or inside. By doing that, the other person will have to watch both their head and body, if you just throw constantly to the head and never to the body, they will block it all day.

Inside guys need to learn to use the ring to their advantage and trap a guy into a corner or against the ropes.

If a guy is a much stronger puncher than you, don't ever get into a match of going all out and throwing punches. This is a no no, you back the hell out.

Outside guys need to keep the guys who fight on the inside OUT. Use that jab, keep jabbing at the head. Or do a jab, jab, cross.

For those that box, this is basic knowledge.
