Hello all,
There will be two leagues...one for 360 and one for PS3.
For each member of the league, you can have up to one created fighter per weight class. It would be awesome if we all went with real-life fighters.
We run a tournament for each weight class in each league to determine a champion. This means there would be 8 different brackets.
Champions are determined this way, with order of the top 10 contenders being ordered based on best finish and in case of ties, type of loss suffered in the defeat. This could be easily done and would keep any outside biases from having a hand in the rankings.
After that, champions must defend their title at least once every two weeks. On top of that, he must defend his title against the mandatory #1 challenger once every two months. Fights can be ordered lower down in the rankings to determine the #1 contender by having #1's vs. #2's in eliminators.
You could even retire your boxer if your guy slips in the rankings too much and becomes a tomato can and begin a new career with another fighter.
This idea could be expanded on in the future, too. Fight Night Round 4 is the only FN game for the next two years. A fully-developed league could be ran based on interest in the first. This could mean adding a calendar aspect to the league where your fighters hit a point where they need to retire, etc. That might be a bit too much but an idea similar to that would be cool.
Any feedback or expansion on this idea would be great. It would just be an easy solution to begin a league. Sign-ups for the tournaments over the course of a few weeks, which gives everyone time to learn the game and make their fighters.
Maybe even allow everyone to use one fighter that is actually in the game?
Dibs on:
Heavyweight: John Ruiz
Light Heavyweight: Andre Ward
Middleweight: Felix Sturm
Welterweight: Carlos Quintana
Lightweight: Vicente Escobedo
Featherweight: Al Seeger
