    Training Tips?

Has anyone been able to get the training games down? I am terrible at everything besides open sparring, so by the time I get to the top 20 fighters in my Legacy I am a good 10 points worse than them in everything.

Anybody have any tips for any of the training? Seem to be so much harder than in previous games.

    Re: Training Tips?

I thought they were impossible but they really just take getting used to. I still have to autotrain for the bag push and the stay on your feet exercises because I still can't get them down consistently, but the others come fairly easy. I took the time (outside of legacy mode) to just practice practice practice on the training sessions and it paid off.

Open Sparring - pretty easy unless you get a defensive outside counterpuncher. Usually helps to box and play defense, but I got some of my higher scores (40K-70K) just wailing on the guy with hook and uppercut combos (not really worrying about point deductions on blocked shots because landing the power punch more than makes up for them).

Heavy bag combos - be patient, take your time, and look at your controller if you need to. The trainer shouts off the numbers so fast that it kind of rushes you into throwing the punches as fast as says them, but you don't need to. Seriously just take your time, and the points will come with the 5 hit combos. Mute the sound if you have to.

Double end bag - This one is pretty easy and straight to the point. I got this one down after like 2 practice sessions. Fire off hook combos instead of straights and jabs since they get you more points. Your points come from the combo markers so make sure you are able to fire off 3-4 hooks with those. You don't have to wait until you're fully on the marker to throw punches. You can start throwing right before your first foot touches the marker.

Maize bag - I found it most efficient and safe to lean 3 times every time the bag swings. So *swing* 1-2-3, *swing* 1-2-3, etc. If you're not that fast, alternate between 3 leans and 2 leans, and ONLY use lead jabs the body. They are the quickest and safest, and make sure you are still leaning when you throw them. Power punches will not get you more points in this exercise.

Stay on your feet - never really gave this exercise a chance so I just autotrain for it, lol.

Heavy bag push - still can't get this one down consistently so if anyone has tips for this one I'm all ears. This sh** just confuses the hell out of me. Champion one session, Prospect the next.

I have a love-hate relationship with these training exercises. The old training exercises were easy and lots of fun, but they never really "trained" you. These new exercises are tough but I really think they made me focus and improve my skills (MY skills, not the boxer's), which is pretty cool when you think about it. It's just that sometimes they're harder and more frustrating than the fight itself that you're training for.

Thanks for the detailed reply, I'm going to give some of these a shot. I never really practiced outside of legacy mode so maybe that's my biggest problem. Really appreciate it!

I found a cheat for the maize bag. If you duck down really low and move side to side in a very low crouch the bag can't touch you. You just move around down there without any fear of getting hit by the bag. The only hard part is not going stick-crazy and missing your punch cue.

Well, I've found the heavy bag combo to be impossible. My controller doesn't register down and right correctly, so I simply cannot throw a right body uppercut.

I'm with parker, the combo bag is so fustrating. I just got the heavy bag down, I pretty much stay close to the bag and throw hooks to the top and bottom when the red strip. The Maize bag is a piece of cake, I get Champion on that almost evey time. The double bag is easy in the begining but as you get up in rank it gets kinda difficult.

Thats my issue as well. I want to throw a body punch and I end up jabbing or something else. very frustrating

I save before every training session. If I do not get a Champion rating, I reload. Maybe cheating but I don't care, its my game. Ha.
