    What's with Tyson?

I'm one of those guys who don't think body spammers are easy to beat, but I've run into problems lately against Tyson.

Same thing, two different fights (one as Foreman, other as Ali). I outbox in every way shape form the guy controlling Tyson, landing more, throwing more, and keeping him on the outside. I win every round, and knock down Tyson 2-3 times in the 7 rounds.

Then in the 8th-10th, Tyson lands 1-2 haymakers, each of which stun and drop me. I lose by KO.

Whys is this happening? Tyson should be loosing steam at the end, not gaining it. I landed 6 more haymakers in the last one that him, but for some reason, Ali goes down after 2, whereas Tyson just stands in there.

Are these clean punches? I noticed that any clean haymaker with Tyson does DAMAGE. If these punches are just grazing you, then there is a problem. IRL we all know any clean power punch Tyson land could end a fight.

        Re: What's with Tyson?

I disagree. Clean power punch in the first 3 rounds, yes. But not the 10th. It happened again since my first post--8th round KO despite domination

Some funny business I noticed in the last fight
-I couldn't back up once he was past a threshold point, nor could i push
-foreman landed several CLEAN haymakers (i'm guessin 30 or so throughout the fight) and Tyson hardly got stunned from them
        - despite 2 knockdowns, Tyson had roughly the same stamina I did
-Tyson trading blow for blow with Foreman was about a 65/35 advantage Tyson
-he was effective in bobbing and weaving, one after another, all fight, getting many counter opportunities.

-***Tyson stunned me several times while on ZERO stamina and low energy, where I had about hald stamina and 3/4 energy***

The last one is what kills me. Tyson was getting manhandled, taking haymakers, hooks and uppercuts to the face, all while on ZERO stamina. Then he throws a single counter hook, and I'm stunned, and he downs me.

The other big point was that I couldn't do what I normally do to thrash Tyson: straights to the face as he comes in. The guy bobbed and weaved non-stop (not a lot, not frequently) over and over and over again. Throwing straights was asking for a counter. I was succesful in haymakers to the body, but even those would inexplicably go wide as he bobbed his head.

THis game is starting to grate on me just a bit. I used to kill Tyson, but it seems that with the leg-locking that prevents movement, and the insane power differntial w/o any corresponding stamina differential, Tyson can be used to win in situations where IRL Tyson would have fallen to the floor gasping for breath.

UPDATE: well it happened again this time not Tyson. This proves it's either something I'm doing differently that I don't notice, or problems in the game. I was swearing by the methods you guys reccomend as of 24 hours ago, but I don't know what to think now. Sad to see a game crash for me like this, but hopefully it's a one night fluke. Right now the biggest annoyances are people who have figured out how to grab your hands by blocking and running into you and this lack of damage to an opponent from a good outside game.

          Re: What's with Tyson?

Pushing always works for me when they try to leg lock me. I would also try Lennox Lewis vs. Tyson/body spammers. Lewis has an obscene reach (I believe he has the longest in the game). That couple with his insane right hand, he's a good match for those idiots. After a push throw a cross/hook combo.

Another thing to think of is two or three body hooks instead of straights when they come in on you. With a longer reach you can get one or two in before they get there with your 13" reach advantage that Lewis has over Tyson.

One more thing you could try is with midget spammers like Tyson is you could guard your body and lean back, bobbing your head from side to side. It's a little more difficult for shorties to connect with taller fighters in that case, but not impossible; especially with the unreal punch accuracy in the game.

Something else to remember: hooks are harder to bob/weave than straights and UC's. As a matter of fact hooks can be the bane of a peek a boo fighter. Two examples are Ingemar Johansen and Floyd Patterson and Tyson/Lewis. Both were nailed coming in with their head guard up. I know on the game you can't do that, but they can't come in weaving with their guard up.

All of the above strategies aren't foolproof, but they work. The guys that tie up your hands, they do it on UC's, so try hooks or straights on them. I hope this helps! Remember to mix it up as far as what you counter, but focus on the body as much as you can. A Lewis straight to the head is a hard thing to shake off as well, even for these guys.
