    Tips for a Newbie?

Hello all, just picked this game up a few days ago. I've played about a dozen offline matches so far, and here's what I'm running into:

I try to play as sim as possible, i.e., no spamming, stick and move, etc. I played about 3-4 matches on Pro with default sliders and while I can knock down an opponent, I haven't gotten a KO yet, but I can consistently go the distance and win by decision almost every time.

So I then tried Champion default sliders--on average, I'm getting KO'd by the cpu around the 5th or 6th rounds. The longest I managed to survive is up to the 9th round. As far as scoring goes, I may manage to win a round or two, but most go to the cpu. I have yet even stun the cpu. Is it just practice makes perfect?

I've tried Parker's Champion sliders, and they seem to remedy things somewhat, but other than practice, how else can I make it realisticly challenging? At present, I seem to be somewhere between Pro and Champion with lots of room for improvement, lol.

    Yes.

When I first got the game I regularly dominated the CPU on Pro. So I bumped up to Champion and I did not win a fight on that difficulty setting for over a week; I almost gave up on the game. But after committing to defense and getting my timing down, I'm a lot more competitive now and win more than my share of fights.

Sweet, thanks DLaren. Looks like I just need to keep at it then. This is a great game. I only discovered it because I tried out the demo and was fairly impressed. Now I can't stop playing, it's so addictive.

The best practice is in Fight Now. You can adjust sliders for what you need right then, including AI and output sliders. I suggest turning Speed and Toughness to ten and power to zero starting out and change it as you see fit.
