I had button punches online today!

i dont know if it has happend to anyone else but when i turned on fnr4 today i went online. i was ali going against roy jones, so i move the right analog an i blocked an didnt punch, so then i pressed a and i threw a hook and had to fight using buttons which was crazy. anyone else got this?

People are hacking the system it seems by mapping controllers somehow.

I had sugar ray and I was fighting sugar shane. the guy's hooks seemed to be really quick and really crisp... made me wonder if he was using buttons as well..

If he was using buttons you would have been as well. You don't get a choice. A lot of guys that use buttons don't even know they shouldn't have them. It turns out M$ screwed up and had to pull back the DLC and re-release it without buttons. Online wasn't setup for those who didn't have the buttons DLC.

On a good note...button guys don't have an edge. They gain an slight advantage punching to the head (I do mean slight), but they lose everywhere else. It will be hard to counter with buttons and there are a couple of punches they can't throw with buttons.

Just played a guy and he was tripping because he had buttons but i didn't in WC. I haven't DL'ed the update. So what's the deal, can i still DL the free update and get buttons also?

I'm still getting the message to Dl the update but i've put it off because of the size. Hey Acts, what punches can't you throw with the buttons? I don't know if i should try this or not. One other question, if you do this do you still have the option for stick controls?

so how do you turn buttons on or off? I prefer the analog stick. I downloaded the demo over night and haven't got to play it yet. I hope they won't impose buttons on me..

The DLC with butons is not up anymore. I DL'd it at 4am and I don't have it so M$ reposted the correct one before then. M$ posted the wrong file initially before EA gave the ok and EA's online service was button ready.

It was like FNR3 for the most part. I couldn't throw a haymaker or butt (retaliatory of course), but blocking didn't require a modifier and hooks were A and B, straights X and Y, UC's were X+A and Y+B and body blows required the modifier.

Oh, it was a MOTHER to counter. I prefer sticks, definitely. It is easier to punch, but you give so much away doing so.

Buttons are in and it's as I feared, terrible. I had a bout just now and couldn't figure out why I couldn't punch. Finally, I hit the buttons and there it was. How anyone can make the argument that buttons are realistic is crazy. Punches fly like crazy, and this was heavyweight.

I've fought 4 fights where the buttons were active. The first 2 i was hammered because i didn't know how to block etc. The last 1 KO'd Ali because I figured out the way they are mapped. I still don't know how to push, clutch, or special, but being able to L R L R with hooks and jabs/straights was SO MUCH EASIER than using the sticks. it's a no thinking kind of difference. With the stick sometimes you're not making the right punch because of where you push the stick, but buttons assure you are going to tag the guy with the right punch giving you the time to worry about your angles. Buttons will change this game online, no doubt.

This is disappointing. I guess all the whining finally got to EA. Hopefully this won't kill online more then it already has been.

This just happened to me. I'd heard that changing the settings back to control layout 1 fixed the bug. But you cannot pause in between rounds so I got KO'd while I paused the game in the middle of the round. I love this game but this is stupid. EA either needs to fix it or post an on-screen message saying that you are now forced to button punch. It took me forever to figure out the control scheme.

"Firstly, I'd like to thank the community for their patience as the team addresses this issue. They have been working around the clock to determine the cause and to resolve the issue as the button configuration has not yet been released as a feature in the game.

The fact that some users are getting this configuration is a bug specific to Online and users can't 'make' their opponents user this configuration as it just happens by chance.

If you want to be absolutely sure you don't encounter this issue in online, back out to the Main Menu after each online fight and then re-enter the game mode. Obviously this is not optimal, and the team is working at this moment to fix the issue and will patch it in the very near future.

Furthermore if do happen to enter a fight with buttons, you can pause the game, go into the settings -> controller configuration menu and then back out which will cause a desync and with both fighters not receiving a win or a loss on their record."

So we are able to use the buttons offline as well?
