What does this mean for PS3 gamers?

We have determined that it would be optimal for PS3 users to not encounter this issue, so we will be combining this first update with our scheduled second update slated for early September. We understand that means that the issues some users are experiencing that we planned to have fixed with the first update will still be present, though the fixes with this first update along with the fix with this new issue and improvements with the second update will be available at that time.

We appreciate everyone’s understanding as the team works to resolve this issue.

So does this mean that PS3 owners will have to wait all the way to September for the DLC?
If that's the case I need somebody to send me some information on how to trade this game in for Madden 10.

What's the issue? It sounds like the DLC introduced a new bug on PS3.

Not sure what the issue is regarding EA Sports

But personally I do not wish to wait till September for the DLC update. An update which is already 2 weeks later than the Xbox 360 update.

Fight Night is giving me a very "unfinished" feel right now. I really want to get into the Legacy but knowing that I'll have to restart after the update has caused me to hold off playing the legacy mode and wait, actually spending more time practicing the training modes. Plus I would like to have a workable set of sliders in place by the fall, because I am going to be increasingly more busy as the fall comes in and I really don't want to spend my time tweeking and testing sliders. EA's timing doesn't work well with mine.

20 years playing games and I can't ever remember buying a game and actually waiting to get in to it...

No need to be sorry. If true, EA really screwed this up. If the DLC introduced a new bug on the PS3, the logical next step would be to fix it and release the DLC as soon as possible.

Rolling it into the September DLC makes absolutely no sense - they already know that this DLC introduced a new bug, so instead of fixing it and testing in a controlled environment, they're going to add another 1000 variables and try it then.

Poor, poor software development methodology.

The bugs they are talking about are the ones the XBox has had since the DLC (info is on the EA forum).
The reason PS3 owners are having to wait till Sept, is that Sony refused to authorise a faulty DLC, and Microsoft did authorise it.
I was p*****d off at first when I found out we had to wait, but at least Sony aren't signing off faulty DLC content like MS are.

The bugs they are talking abour are the ones the XBox has had since the update (info is on the EA forum).
The reason PS3 owners are having to wait till Sept, is that Sony refused to sign of on something that didnt work, and Microsoft did.
I was p*****d off at first when I found out we had to wait, but at least Sony aren't signing off faulty upgrades like MS did

So what are they? Because nobody here has apparently encountered them.

Apparently its caused some users freezing issues they didnt have before. It may not be affecting all users, but from the forum (which has more traffic than here about it), there are a lot of p****d off XBox users.

Oh, those issues. They only affect online play. Shame on Sony for punishing their offline consumers solely because of it.

Sliders are a never-ending blight on EA Sports gaming. I almost preferred FNR3 because there were no sliders. Sure, it wasn't nearly as realistic as FNR4, but it sure was fun.

This is horrible...I have been waiting for this update forever and I came home, popped the game in and nothing. I was like WTF? I really want to play this game but like someone stated earlier I wanted to hold off on my legacy until the sliders were in effect. Hopefully I still want to play this game whenever they release the update.
