Fellas i don't care how much you tweak the sliders, this game is flawed at the core...R4 is the furthest thing from a boxing sim and the only thing that can fix it is an entirely new game...A game that doesn't feature stupid gimmicks like stun blocks and haymakers...A game with a stamina system that rewards the boxer and kills the spammer...

The biggest flaw of this game is the stamina system and the core of the problem lies within the way stamina is recovered...A guy who throws 250 punches in a round should see a drastic drop in stamina the next round...In R4 this doesn't happen, the said spammer will still have at least 3/4 of stamina going into the 4th round which is way too much...In the real world boxers have a limit and they try to keep themselves within that limit to avoid getting gassed...For example Bernard Hopkins tosses like 20 punches a round because he knows his body at his age can't last if he's throwing 50+ punches a round...

So instead of rewarding spammers at the end of every round why not heavily tax them on stamina recovery? I'm not saying you can't exceed the limit every round, you're free to throw as many punches as you want but you will be taxed for it next round...If that limit is heavily exceeded instead of gaining stamina points the points will get negated...Basically with a system like this if a guy is spamming he will have less than half his stamina still available to him by the start of the 3rd round...In other words he's done...

Points should only be rewarded for good stamina management, accuracy and efficiency...A system like this rewards the boxer and kills the spammer which is the way it should be...

If you remove spamming altogether, by tweaking stamina the way you've suggested, you've eliminated a "style" of boxing. There ARE guys out there in the real world that throw alot of punches and that's how they make their living.

I want to see the game balanced as much as the next guy, but not at the expense of turning every fight into the same "pause, punch, counter" robotic dance.

Please point me to a fighter that can toss 150-250 punches a round like people do in R4...Seriously...

There is a difference between being aggressive and spamming...

The system i propose keeps the fighter within his limits...Obviously an aggressive fighter like Margarito who can toss 100 punches a round will have that ability...Margaritos limit is higher than that of Hopkins...So no styles are being eliminated, all the system i proposed is doing is cutting out the excessive mindless spam...

You're forgetting that in online mode, all fighter attributes are leveled.

There's no stamina issue offline because of this.

Are we playing the same game pal?

On the Fight Night Round 4 copy i own i can't play 3 minute rounds against the CPU because it will average around 130 punches thrown per round...If that does not qualify as a serious game breaking stamina issue then what does? FFS we're forced to play 2 minute rounds to have a somewhat sim experience...It's laughable man...

As for online i haven't boxed a single round will never do so...The offline mode is so broken i already know what to expect and just don't want to even bother venturing into that cesspool...

You must be playing on Amateur or Pro level.

On Champion, with the Stamina slider set to zero, you won't be able to throw 130 punches per round. That's confirmed by multiple people in the Official Slider thread.

                I play on Champion

Stamina slider is set at 5...

Anything lower than that you punch like old women...

That's because the stamina slider WORKS.

Hand speed is determined by the speed slider, not the stamina slider.

If you don't want to punch like an "old woman", don't throw so many punches.

Offline, the game is a pretty solid representation of the sport. Right now, the one thing FN4 is missing (offline) is boxer movement. You can't really move around the ring fluidly. But in talking about stamina, I drop my stamina slider very low. In my Legacy, I had some great fights, one just last night, where I went 10 rounds and both of us were punching like "old women." It should be like that. That's what I don't get about the stamina patch for online.

You almost get the feeling they didn't want to turn off the spammers so they slightly adjusted things. I want to see that stamina drop like it does when I try and throw several punches in a row.
Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.

I play with WW, my punch output is around 30-40 a round...

Have you actually played with the slider on 0?

If you did you would know every punch you throw is as slow as molasses and the punches look like they have zero pop behind them...You can't even throw a fluid 3 punch combo...You can't possibly play like that...

So yea the slider does work but its flawed...Its either high volume fluid punching or low output granny fighting...There is no balance...

The whole thing needs to be reworked...

I play with the slider on zero all the time. I've probably put in 100 or so matches with the slider at zero.

The behavior your talking about is caused by the SPEED SLIDER, not the stamina slider. It was possible to create the type of animations you're talking about before they even released the stamina slider.
