Re: Floyd Mayweather radio interview (gets punked hardcore)

IMO, if you get pass all the cursing and back and forth between PBF, and Rugged Man, you see Rugged basically was asking Floyd, why not take fights against fighters who present the challenge. When I think of GOAT, I don't think of floyd. Ali to me will always be the GOAT, simply because he over came certain odds that no one thought he would do. He shook up the world with his first win over Sonny Liston, and came back and did it again against Liston. Then came the Foreman fight, and he over came that. Ali sacraficed his life to be GOAT. I haven't seen Floyd actually pushed to the brink and overcoming those odds. Maybe Floyd is just that good and is that far ahead of his competition, and some will agree with that, which is understandable. But I myself, do not think he is the GOAT.

Haven't watched the interview but here are my thoughts.

Floyd is the most talented boxer since RJJ in his prime. Floyd will never gain my respect until he fights the best guys in his own division, stop making excuses why a fight can't be made. If this guy wants any respect he needs to fight the winner of Cotto-Pacman. I think he beats either guy but he needs to get in the ring and prove it.

Paul Williams is a different animal and beats Floyd handily just by controlling the fight with the jab and volume punching. The guy who beats floyd will do it with the jab. See Delahoya for the first 5-6 rounds of they're fight.

And when did Cotto turn down a fight with Floyd? Last I checked Cotto has fought everyone, same with Pacman, that's why both those guys deserve nothing but RESPECT!

ok, so they didn't fight in '99 ...what does that have to do with why it won't happen now?

          again.... WHY?
That's easy. Because Mosley is 2-1 in his last 3 fights. The biggest test he lost, the other fight was Mayoraga and Margarito. We now know that Margarito was an over hyped cheater and Mayorago was just not that good. Oh by the way he did not KO Mayorago, it was a decision win. Mosley is ONLY a name to Floyd right now.

Because these fighters only want a check and present nothing to Floyd's record. Ill give you an example, he fought Shambra Mitchell and killed him. Everyone says thats a BS win on his record. Mitchell is solid, former champ. So what does an over the hill Mosley do for him?

Ummmm so what guy at 147 has Floyd not fought? Pac, he just got here. Cotto, his handlers wont make the fight. Paul Williams is at 154 now and eyeing middleweight. I don't see how a Pac fight all of the sudden MAKES Floyd. And when he wins that fight, we will say Pac is too little to be fighting him.

Better question may be who has he fought?
Let's see, Williams has said he would fight anyone from 147-160.
Mosley is a champion at 147
Cotto is a champion at 147
Pac man is #1 pfp fighter in the world.
Berto is a champion at 147
                Margarito is a top 5 at 147
                Clottey is a top 5 at 147
Cintron is top 7-10 at 147

That's just off the top of my head.
I think it's clear that he fights for the $ at this point and not his legacy.
I don't care either way but don't call yourself the goat if you don't fightthe best fighters of your time. By the way,I would take Floyd over any of the guys I listed EXCEPT Williams.

That's why a guy like Cotto and Manny deserve tons of respect fighting the best in their division.

Would ALI be the greatest without fighting Liston,Foreman,Frazier, Norton etc?

Cotto vs Pac man is ONLY happening because they have the same promoter. Tell me when Floyd was offered either fight and turned them down?

Now let's look at your list:

Williams - this is the guy that NOW everyone is seeing as the 'Floyd stopper'. I was up on Paul over 5 yrs ago but its good to see folks finally seeing him as a legit opponent. The prob with Paul today is that he is fighting at 154 and 160. Coming down now would damage his career long term. I honestly believe that he needs to leave 147 alone and clean out 154/160.

Pac Man - this is a fight that he can not win. He struggled against smaller opponents and if you think Floyd is going to run in hands down at Manny and get KOd, think again. If Floyd takes and wins this fight, the hate will be....Manny was too little, and over blown light weight etc.

Mosley - see my comments above on him. Fighting Berto is the best thing for him at this stage in his career. I think Berto is in trouble IMO.

                  Margarito - you smoking crack.

Clottey - I believe he is the best chance to beat Floyd and I will tell you why. He is an awkward, active fighter with a great chin. But the lost to Cotto hurt him.

Cintron - you aren't serious are you?

The fact that you mention Frazier,Liston and Foreman in the ranks of Margarito and Cintron is really sad.

the politics of boxing are killing the sport .....

i'm not sure about this, but has floyd ever approached and offered a fight to either man??

Well with the history that he and the promotor have, it would never happen. You are right about politics in this sport.

Now one fight that SHOULD happen is Floyd vs Cotto. That is a fight that pits two legit guys at 147. Pac man beats Cotto, then the fight with Floyd should happen too and the Pac man is too little argument is a mute point.

I see it's pretty clear your a BIG Mayweather supporter, My point is, if you want to call yourself the best, fight the best, bottom line.

And I did not mention those past fighters in reference to these current ones, just saying ALI fought them and Floyd hasn't mixed it up with anyone on top of their game since Castillo about 7 years ago at least.

Funny how everyone else in the division seems to be fighting one another but poor Floyd cant get a fight with any of them, please. He fights guys 2 weight classes lower then he is in and cashes in on easy victories. If you call yourself a boxing fan, you cant honestly say he is trying to fight any of the top guys available.

actually I am not. I like Williams much more but I respect skill set.

unfortunately what you call 'the best' is not the best. you named guys with several losses, aging careers, and little accomplishments. What has Margarito do but cheat? What has Cintron done but get KOd and squeak by lesser comp.

if i had my way, floyd would have fought Shane when Mosley was the champ. if i had my way, williams would have seen more named guys in his 30+ win career. if i had my way, Berto wouldnt have a belt with only 1 named opponent win.

again, all the guys cept Cotto do not have a real case. and for the record AGAIN..Williams is NOT at 147 anymore. His last 3 fights were at 154 and 160.

again, all the guys cept Cotto do not have a real case. and for the record AGAIN..Williams is NOT at 147 anymore. His last 3 fights were at 154 and 160.
                              Man your a Mayweather diehard.
Mosley is the champ. And called dude out and got in his face and made him look like a chump on his own PPV. And he still won't fight him???

This isn't about if PBF is a all-time great talent. because he is. This is about him not wanting to cement his Legacy, and instead looking for the easiest fights while making the most amount of money.
The people want him to fight Pac or Cotto. Instead of waiting for the winner of the pac vs hatton fight. he signs the deal to fight JMM the day before that fight happened. lol

And dudes mentioned Margharito because Floyd ducked him when he was gonna get 8 million, and instead fought someone else for 4 million. So its obvious its not about the money, its about easy fights.

RA just pointed that out and the die hard Floyd fans arent see'ing it either. It is what it is. Watch him fight much much lesser talent and already know he's going to win because lets face it, he's not going to fight a big named boxer.
