I ask partly because I've struggled online lately more than I used to and I wonder how much of that is facing opponents that are using the button control layout. I'm just not getting as many punches out as my opponents. Part of my struggles I think are due to some of my bad habits - techniques that used to work before the patch but are now hurting me, like doubling up on all my punches and running around in late rounds. But I worry that button punching is simply much simpler and easier and creates an unfair advantage online vs TCP people. I've never tried button punching and never will, but I hope there are some disadvantages to going that route. Thoughts?

Button punching vs TCP
Anybody that has extensive experience with both punching systems - what are the pros and cons of each and which one gives the user a bigger advantage?

Re: Button punching vs TCP
I recently hit the same point that you are at, and I switched to button fighting but switch back after the limitations. The biggest limitation is the transition from offense to defense and vice versa. The button mashers best defense is throwing over 100 punches per round. They can get off punches faster which is very frustrating, but good defense and movement and generally win out if you can be patient. I really wish that online they could seperte the 2 types of players. The Sports Preacher

Re: Button punching vs TCP
I've gone back and forth between the two. The one thing I found, is that the response time of punching is quicker with buttons. Ever since the patch, I've had an issue where I try and do a hook, or uppercut with the TPC and there seems to be some sort of delay. I don't get that with buttons. But, I don't believe the buttons have signature punches, or at least I didn't see it on the configuration.Comment

Re: Button punching vs TCP
I prefer the buttons and here's why:
Buttons
Pros: natural speed and fluidity
Cons: body punching feels and looks very awkward due to the modifier
TPC
Pros: body punching
Cons: Slower in responsiveness and no fluidity in any combination other than when spamming hooks to the body...Also TPC has a distinct margin for error when throwing a punch which should not exist in a boxing game...i know im not the only one who has tried to throw an uppercut and has ended up with a hook...Even if it happens to you once in every 100 punches that is too much...It should never happen...Comment

Re: Button punching vs TCP
I like buttons, but I feel the producers threw them in to discourage fans wanting them next time round. I hate TPC because it's like you have to go through so much to get a proper combination that you intend to throw to happen.
