Haymakers Tied to Punch Styles
Assuming EA decides to keep the 3 basic punch styles that they have for Fight Night Round 4, I believe that Haymakers should vary given the style of punches each fighters choose. This would add more variation in the fighter abilities, that are more simplistic than Tendencies, but still effective in creating differences in each fighter.
As you've read in ALL of my post, I am an advocate for Stamina Governing EVERYTHING.
Depending on your chosen punch style, the style should initially affect the power you connect with, and the accuracy from which its thrown. However, HAYMAKERS shouldn't be animated as slow telegraphed punches to start, but instead fast powerful punches, that punch THROUGH their targets or when whiffed, they are animated as punches going across the punching fighters body thus leaving a bigger opening for Natural Counter opportunities.
Furthermore, as a Fighter reaches say, 50% of their Maximum stamina, the Haymakers will become the slower, telegraphed, wider punches that we seen in Today's game WITH a loss of Balance if they are Whiffed. As the fight went on, this would happen more often as their maximum stamina will decrease naturally. If the fighters remaining Max Stamina dipped below 50% the slow, Telegraphed Haymakers we seen currently would be permanent, until the recuperated.
"Each punch style should have its own Haymaker style tied to it."
If someone picks a " Power" Punch style, their Haymakers will be the strongest, but also, carry the most weight behind them leading to more devastating power leading to the fighter being off balanced if they Whiff, think of Frazier's Left hook Missing. These Haymakers would be the hardest to throw in combos as they are essentially "Homerun Shots"
If someone chose a "Balanced" Punch Style, the power would be a bit less, than a Power style, and the speed and strength of their Haymaker's would depend more on how high their Power and Speed attributes' are. But the amount of balance would be solid, and they'd be less likely to fall over when they miss. (think of Pac Man Whiffing a double Jab/Straight Left Combo and being slightly off balanced if he missed.) (These would be easier to throw in combos, perhaps 3-4 punches before one is temporarily fatigued)
If someone chose a "Speed" Punch style, they'd lack the power for devastating KO's and would have better balance if they missed since they didn't commit much weight behind them. Their punches are faster, sharper and more accurate and do more "cumulative damage." Meaning you'd have to land at least four of them to equal ONE from the power Punch style, and Two-One for the Balanced punch style. (This punch style would offer the best balance with, but the least power, and effectiveness would still be tied to your fighters power/speed ratings, but independent of your chosen punch style. Think of Mayweather hitting Ndou with 4 "Haymaker" straight Rights, that hurt Ndou, this would take 2 Straight Lefts from Pac's Balanced style, to do the same damage to Ndou, it would take only one flush Frazier hook as well.)
