I have a very hard time believing Mike would get back in the ring.

Exactly. He hates the sport of boxing now. Unless he is mad desperate for some money, I don't see it happening.

Is that the article you are referring to?
Kings seems rather cryptic in his response to me.
While he denies a 3rd Holyfield fight is planned, he doesn't deny the possibility of another opponent.

And of all people, why would Tyson agree to deal with Don King ever again? This just doesn't sound right on a lot of levels.

                      Read the ESPN article posted...

They settled their differences, Mike was at one of kings promotions in November and said they mended their fences or something liek that...

I didn't buy into this comeback story until i saw a clip of Mike on an Italian version of dancing with the stars looking in decent shape...He has lost more then just some weight...He's looking noticeably slimmer which is a sign he's definitely at least been working out in the gym...

Heres the clip im talking about...

This is kinda wierd. If this happens I hope it happens for the right reasons. It seems like Mike has made some huge strides in recent years with regard to his mental health and as much as I'd like to see him do a Rocky Balboa and come back for one more so he can go out on his terms and on a better note than i'm all for it........I would just hope it doesn't lead to a regression for him. I would hope he goes back the fundamentals of his earlier years instead of the un-disciplined head-hunting that characterized the 2nd half of his career.

And the guy has definitely dropped some serious weight. Just watched Tyson again a couple weeks ago and the above-posted clip is night and day from that.

Me too. But idiots like myself have been hoping for this for 20 years. The closest he came to looking like the 'old' Mike was when Roach trained him.
If he did have a comeback, I would expect that he'd be the same one-punch plodding machine he was for most of the 2nd-half of his career.

To be able to look and fight like he did prior to ditching Rooney, he'd have to get into incredible shape and his training would be intense.
Watch an old clip of prime Tyson talking about training and how much he hates it. It's because to throw that volume of punches, along with head bobbing, you need an incredible amount of stamina. I don't think a 40+ year old Mike has more interest in doing that anymore than 25-year-old Tyson did.

But it would be nice if he came back, fought some bum, KO'd him and went out with a big W.
I still believe that if he had half the heart and desire that Holyfield has, he'd still be fighting and probably be 80-0.
But then, he'd probably also have twice as many kids. (Rim shot!)

mending fences just means Mike can be at the same place as him without ripping off his head. After listening and seeing the way Mike talked about Don King in the movie Tyson, there is no way i could see Tyson be willing to do business with King once again. If any of you haven't seen that movie, i recommend it. It is a great movie and really makes you feel for Mike and it really helps you understand why is the way he is and why he was the way he was. You can see the pain in his eyes when he talks about certain things and the sadnesses as he cries about other things like Cus. He talks about getting bullied as a kid and thats why he was the way he was because he never wanted to have that feeling or be bullied again. He also had major trust issues.

Anyone thats a Tyson fan or fan of boxing needs to rent or buy that movie. I got it OnDemand a few months ago so i dont know if it would still be there but its entertaining and sad to watch.

It's definitely worth a purchase. I recently showed it to a couple of friends (a married couple) that aren't really boxing fans.....aside from liking the Rocky films. They both really enjoyed it and were hanging on Tyson's every word the entire way through because it's so interesting to listen to him speak...his unique vocabulary and blunt and brutally honest opinions. The wife always thought he was a vicious, beligerent psychopath but she came away from the film seeing him as a sympathetic character and a victim of sorts.
