    Roy Jones Jr

Why no buzz around him, I know that hes past his prime and is aging But I didn't even know he fought Jeff Lacy and I didn't know he has an up coming bout with B-Hop. Whats the deal?

Some have given up on Roy for a number of reasons. His last fight in Australia he got stopped by Danny Green. But there was a rumor that Green wore illegally wrapped hands and the stoppage itself was kind of questionable. In the past few years, Roy has some decent wins, beating Anthony Hanshaw, Felix Trinidad, and Jeff Lacy, and looking impressive while doing so.

Most seem to be picking BHop to embarrass Roy next week but I think it'll be a good close fight. Both guys have a lot to prove, and Jones still has good handspeed.

He's definitely gotten better since his KO's at the hands of Tarver and Johnson.
But at the same time, he was completely dominated by Calzaghe. And Hopkins is close to J.C.'s skill level.

It'll be mostly a boring fight with Hopkins dominating him from start to finish.

Jones is still capable of competing with Grade B and C fighters but can't come close to beating an elite fighter.
His years of relying on lightning fast reflexes so he can keep his left-hand low are far behind him. Those poor fundamentals have now resulted in him being KO'd in 4 of his last 5 losses.

No way has Jones Jr gotten better since that Tarver Fight, He has been on the downfall ever since.

I would love to see Jones Jr beat Hopkins....But it want happen...And Hopkins will be going for the Ko in this fight trust me.

I meant in the sense that he's gotten his act together mentally.
In both those fights he didn't look like someone that really loved boxing.

But after his last KO defeat, I wonder how mentally he'll be there for B-Hop. I imagine he's just going to try and make it to the 12th on his feet. He'll be super defensive, which means Hopkins will really have to work hard for the KO.

see they both like to play head games, i think its going to be a rough match, eventually it will settle down and who can make good connects will win. usually hopkins will just try to pick you apart won't really go for the knock but make you quit from beating up on you the same for roy in his later years so it should be a good fight, but it maybe boring too.

He has gotten better since Tarver and Johnson. And you could argue Tarver and Johnson have gotten worse since then. Tarver is basically retired now doing commentary for Showtime, and Johnson looked decent at times against Dawson, but hasn't really had a big win since beating Jones.

I don't think Jones was completely dominated by Calzaghe. Jones knocked Calzaghe down in the first round, won the second round, then the next few rounds were close and Roy got cut. Roy still went the distance with Calzaghe despite the cut. Calzaghe won, but it wasn't a complete domination. Jones was never really hurt in that fight besides the cut and was never close to being stopped.

I don't think it'll be boring or one sided. I think it'll be close.

The last sentence isn't true. Jones has only been stopped 3 times in his career. (Tarver II, Johnson, and Green) His 5 losses were : Tarver by KO, Johnson by KO, Tarver by Decision, Calzaghe by Decision, Green by TKO.

So that's 3 out of 5 of his losses being KO'd, or stopped, not 4 out of 5.

Hopkins has never been stopped, which is impressive, but he doesn't have the KO % that Roy has. Roy has 40 KO wins, to Hopkins' 32 KO wins. This is because Jones takes more risks than Hopkins, he tries to put on an exciting fight for the fans.

So Jones has improved since Tarver and Johnson. He had a pretty good winning streak where his only loss was Calzaghe. (who also beat BHop in similar fashion - got knocked down in the 1st round, then came back to out work both BHop and RJJ)

Then came Green. It wasn't a particularly devastating knockdown. It wasn't really Roy's chin that was weak as some have suggested. He got hit on the back of the head against a power puncher who allegedly wore illegal hand wraps. And he got up from it and continued on then the ref stopped it. Jones actually said it was a blessing in disguise and said he has a rematch clause with Green and may use it after BHop.

This is one of those fights that people have their opinions about. Some feel that Roy is shot, and have no chance in this fight. I won't boldly predict that Roy will win, but I do think Jones will surprise some people in this fight and I think it'll be a pretty good tactical boxing match.

There is no buzz because this fight should have happened in 1998 when everyone was calling for it. Now we have a rematch from 17 years ago.... I'll pass....
I dont remember there names but they were allot of fun....

At the very least Hopkins should have been the guy Jones fought when he dropped back down in weight after beating John Ruiz.

I'm sure Roy Jones and this fight would have generated a big buzz had it been on HBO, or Showtime..as of now I can't think of one person who is even considering buying this fight..and for them to charge 50 bucks at that is incredible...Peple who have had a easier access to i if it was on one of those channels..and plus they are competing with the final four...bad business move

Actually KO'd in 3 of his last 5 losses, but who's counting?
I think Hopkins will be content with a decision but he might decide to step it up and KO Roy. Yes, I'd be shocked at a Roy Jones victory.
