    Victor Ortiz vs Nate Campbell

Did anyone catch this fight? I couldn't and wanted to know how it was.
It sounds like Ortiz really put on a show. I have to say I'm surprised. After he quit against Maidana I wasn't sure he'd be able to recover. But it appears he's put that loss behind him and came back strong.
Still, it was sad to see Campbell lose. I like that dude and was hoping for the best.

Anyway, after Khan's destruction of Malignaggi, I'd love to see Khan fight Bradley and then Ortiz get a rematch with Maidana with the winner's fighting one another.

140 is a great division right now.

Ortiz was brilliant in this fight. He had incredible footwork and ring generalship. He was busier than Campbell and avoided most of Campbell's punches. To Campbell's credit, he did catch Ortiz with a few good shots, but Ortiz took them well, showing he has a great chin.

Ortiz is one of my favorite young boxers right now, and yeah 140 is stacked. I'd love to see Ortiz take on Khan, although I'd give the edge right now to Khan, Ortiz would definitely have a good chance with the kind of footwork he showed against Campbell.

Ortiz was absolutely great against Campbell, but it wasn't flawless. Ortiz still didn't block enough, but he was much busier than Campbell and won a clear unanimous decision.

Campbell looked gun shy, and his jab was ineffective. As the fight progressed you could tell the age factor was starting to set in. He even said his hip was starting to tighten up.

I read that on ESPN as well. It's too bad. I really like Campbell. He seems like an honest guy and he gives it his all in each fight.
But it sounds like he's finally showing his age. I just pray he has enough money to walk away. He's certainly accomplished a lot for starting out so late.

Campbell looked shot, Ortiz fought well but if he fought someone younger i think he would have gotten tagged because he leaves himself wide open after he throws but Campbell didnt throw any punches. Theyll be smart about who they schedule Ortiz to fight until he becomes a big enough name but i saw a good amount of flaws in his game even though he showed a lot of potential and talent.

^I agree that Ortiz didn't block enough and got tagged with some good shots JerseySuave4. If he was in with someone younger, he may have been tagged.

But I was impressed by Ortiz's footwork. He moved around the ring so effortlessly it confused Campbell. Ortiz is far from unbeatable and he is still learning, but the thing that makes him entertaining is that he sometimes leaves himself vulnerable, and that makes you want to watch every second of a Victor Ortiz fight. This is why I consider Ortiz to be one of the most exciting young fighters in boxing. I also loved the way he handled himself after the Maidana loss. He said that he didn't think he deserved to get beat up like that and he wanted to improve. He lived to fight another day and the sky is the limit for him.

The thing that is interesting about him is that he has footwork and he leaves himself open. You rarely see a guy with good footwork get hit as flush as he dose. Most fighters that use footwork and retreat are boring, but Ortiz retreats but still gets tagged. If he blocked more, then he may not take as many tough shots, but then some would criticize him for not being exciting. (like how some have criticized Mayweather in the past)

So yeah there's much room for improvement, but Ortiz is young and has plenty of room to grow. I think a guy like Freddie Roach would do wonders with him like he did with Khan.

yea he's got talent but i thought it was the perfect fight for him because Campbell just looked shot so it was a good fight for Ortiz to gain confidence and get a name under his belt.
