I can name atleast 5 guys who's worth seeing more than marg or a Cotto rematch...

Just out of curiosity, I'd like you to name them. Not saying I'd agree or disagree because this is obviously a fight done to keep the money in Top Rank, as I said before.

To boxing fans, yes, there are much better choices.
But to John Q Public, who vaguely follows the sport, names like Berto, Bradley or Williams don't really bring great publicity.
Like mattlanta said, Arum knows that there's only one big name left, so if he can't get that fight done, he might as well keep the money in his stable, hence Margarito.

Bull...And the bolded is what gets PBF bashed....Even tho he has quality opps in the last 5 years...

Boxing dont suck because of Pac and May not fighting, it sucks because its not ran right, if it was ran right, those guys would be house hold names...What happens to boxing when the Pac vs May fight is over?

Who would even pay to see Marg anyways??? Pac fans of course but why wouldnt they pay to see Bradley?

Only reason those guys are fighting is so Pac can get a belt....No one wants to pay and see Marg or a Cotto rematch

Why not just nationally call PBF out? that makes too much sense...Either way its a win win for Pac so why not do it?

No one really knows who Bradley is. What has he done? He called out Amir Khan. Showing that he doesn't even see himself as a superstar. At least Margarito is a more famous (or notorious) name. It seems like all you're doing is crying because Pacquiao isn't fighting we all know who. If you don't like it, then don't watch. Either way, Pacquiao and Arum are going to make a ton of money that night.

You're preaching to the choir brother.
Boxing needs a complete overhaul. It seems if you're not promoted by Top Rank or Golden Boy, you'll have a very hard time getting any publicity.
Bradly, Williams, etc. should be household names. And promoters like Arum and DLH, should be pushing their fighters to constantly fight the best.
But in essence, boxing has turned into something similar to the AL/NL of baseball. There's very little interleague play and most fighters box someone from within their own promotional stable.
Arum and DLH aren't dumb. They protect their investments well. If a belt is going to change hands, it'll be to someone else they promote.

The system's broken. We all know it. It's sad and funny at the same time how the powers-that-be have only promoted 2 guys in the past 5 years. But if you can't get those two guys in the ring, it makes the sport look really bad and everyone loses interest.

Re: Pacquiao to Fight Margarito in November

I agree with the post mentioned above too.

IMO opinion pay per view buys for this fight is going to be incredibly weak. I see Pac winning this rather easily in a boring fight like he had against Clottey.

I we have to stay away from the Pac/PBF fight topic but I agree that neither one of them really wants to fight each other. To simply lay blame on one of them is foolish. PBF all of a sudden is loosing interest and wants to take a break & Pac on the otherhand has this overwhelming fear of having blood drawn. I say "YEAH RIGHT" to both arguments.

Anyway back on topic: I say Pac in 8 rounds

Re: Pacquiao to Fight Margarito in November

This should be an entertaining fight. As dissappointed as i am that the megafight isn't taking place this year, I'm still looking forward to this one.

On the one hand, i don't feel like Margharito should ever be allowed to fight. I hate him for what he did to Cotto, and the maliciousness of the intent, it should be a crime.

But on the other hand why not send him into the ring with the #1 P4P champ the Mexicutioner, so he can get his face bashed in as punishment.

I also would like to see how Manny is going to handle relentless pressure from a very tall welterweight with an admantium chin.

Re: Pacquiao to Fight Margarito in November

If you had asked me in the fall of 2008 if I thought Margarito could beat Pacquiao, I would have said that I not only think he COULD, but I think he WOULD. In the wake of Cotto beat-down, I thought I was seeing a fighter that had a granite chin and a relentless, always-forward-moving style with face-rearranging power from both hands. In short, I didn't think he'd ever lose at Welterweight (or any weight class +/- 10 lbs) ever again.

Of course, then we found out it was all lies. Like everything in sports these days, if it looks too good to be true, it probably is. I agree that Margo should never be able to fight again after what he was caught doing, and his complete dismantling by Sugar Shane was ring justice at its best.

Fast-forward two years, and I just see no way Margo can win this fight. I think if he was really the fighter I thought I saw in August of 2008, he would pummel Manny into the canvas. But I don't believe that anymore; and I am also done doubting Pac-man. If August 2008 Margarito shows up (sans loaded hand wraps), I do think he can take down Pacquiao with his crushing body shots and unyielding constant pressure. If the Margo that got drawn-and-quartered by Mosely shows up, he will be one Mr. Potatohead-lookin' dude face down on the canvas Saturday night....

I would say Pac gets him in the 9th or so. But I sort of want to see what happens if Margo brings it '08 style...

I was watching 60 Minutes last weekend and they had a segment on Pacman. They were really pushing the whole Manny has been distracted and might lose angle with Freddy Roach. I'm interested to see how he looks this fight.
