Because naming every EA Sports franchise would've been excessive.Member: OS Uni Snob Association | Twitter: @MyNameIsJesseG | #WT4M | #WatchTheWorldBurn

Are you sure about that? Here's a quote from Peter Moore....
“We keep a very close eye on where things like Mixed Martial Arts are going,” Moore said. “Obviously we've got Fight Night - we're incredibly excited about Fight Night - but boxing, for me, sadly feels like it's the past of fighting and Mixed Martial Arts feels like it's the future of fighting. So when we look at where people's attention is going, that's something we keep a very close eye on.” -Peter MoorePoe is an advocate for realistic boxing videogames.Comment

Is that from the same interview?
THAT'S the thing you should've made the thread about. Not that he left FN off a random list of EA franchises.Member: OS Uni Snob Association | Twitter: @MyNameIsJesseG | #WT4M | #WatchTheWorldBurn

He doesn't mention NHL either. I think that the context of the article does not find it necessary to include a list of all of their future titles. If the article was centered on "what titles will we see in 5 years" maybe you could speculate, but I think we are reaching here.Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.Comment

.....and the Fight Night producers were not too sure they had the green light to start production on this new game. It was up to the investors and executives. I'm on the EA Fight Night forums everyday and they posted we don't know if there is going to be a Fight Night Round 5 as they said at the time.Poe is an advocate for realistic boxing videogames.Comment

Re: I wonder why Peter Moore didn't mention Fight Night in this interview?
Moore speak positively about FN there though. He also said at one point MMA didn't seem to appeal to gamers quite yet. We know now there will be a Fight Night Champion. I don't think him excluding the name Fight Night from that quote means they won't be giving it consideration in the future. If we use that logic, Golf and Hockey would not be in the future either.Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.Comment

Re: I wonder why Peter Moore didn't mention Fight Night in this interview?
I know what you are saying, but Fight Night has to push the numbers the investors/Executives are looking for. I'm wondering how much of Fight Night budget was shared with EA MMA? The producers keep saying their budget is tight. I know quite a few boxers EA turned away. Some high profile, EA said the money isn't there they can't afford them even if they wanted to be in free(no lie)
You see where I'm going with this?
It would be nice to see Moore with a very optimistic outlook, talking about big budgets and long term focus for FN, but the sport itself just doesn't draw people in like other sports currently do.Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.Comment

Re: I wonder why Peter Moore didn't mention Fight Night in this interview?
I do, but isn't it all in how well the game has sold and then its capacity to sell in the future? Let's face it, if boxing was as popular as football Fight Night would have been the start of that quote. Across the board, boxing does not appeal to the gaming community like it has in the past. That puts it lower on the priority list for EA.

Personally, I think the Fight Night series is treated more like a fighting game than a (boxing)sports game. EA doesn't give it the sports game treatment the other sports titles get.Poe is an advocate for realistic boxing videogames.Comment

Re: I wonder why Peter Moore didn't mention Fight Night in this interview?
I think that's piss poor excuse for EA to blame Fight Night sales or boxing popularity(which isn't declining) If a good game is created and everyone(majority) likes it. It will sell in numbers. Everyone was happy with Fight Night Round 4. Some people accepted it for what it was and other people wanted more.

Switch over to a game like 2K Sports' College Hoops 2K8, considered to be one of the best basketball efforts this generation. Still, with as much praise about how authentic that game is, 2K had to discontinue it because it simply wasn't producing enough sales to merit a continued effort.
This isn't always the case, but I think boxing just doesn't have the "pop" other sports have right now. You can say that THQ's UFC game didn't generate sales this year because of bad development, but I'd argue it has more to do with the sport simply not generating a big enough gamer following to justify an annual release. That's where I really don't like this business. Because there is pressure to make money (greed) these companies or more focused on how to generate the dollar. They don't trust that putting out a quality simulation of the sport will do that. Their aim is at putting th ebig names out there and exploiting a game to generate sales.Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.Comment

Re: I wonder why Peter Moore didn't mention Fight Night in this interview?
All they would have to do is add the true 1 punch KO to the boxing title get mayweather and keep Pac and it would sell like hot cakes. Just give the sim players the slider to control the frequency to which it happened.
I think thats the biggest thing missing. If there was another Tyson that came along and was KO'ing people early with **** KO's, boxing would surge again. Its a sport that doesn't appeal to the masses, but it can if the right things happen.Chalepa Ta Kala.....Comment
