Hard to go back to FN after EA MMA?

I'm curious to know if anyone else is going through a similar situation? No big deal. Fight Night just seems slow and canned after playing EA MMA, ya think?

EA MMA is more fluid and dynamic. I'm hoping FNC opens up a little more.

I played the EA MMA demo, and was not impressed. I might not be giving it a fair shot, since I'm already so used to UFC's controls. I don't identify any of the fighters either. I did however, have a tough time going back to FN4 after popping in UFC10.

I agree with you 100% creep. EA MMA is one of the most balanced fight games on the market period. It is a very solid first outing.

There is a control scheme similar to UFC, it is pretty good. Actually all the control schemes are pretty simple with good depth.

Not at all. If I wanted to beat up bouncers and wrestle around with grown men in tights I'll play Raw or Smackdown or one of those. Sweet Science is completely different, I don't see why it would be hard to go back when you are talking about two different sports.

Seriously??? What a shallow comment on MMA as a sport.

I was just being an MMA *****. I dont't really feel that way, although I don't follow that sport very closely. I just thought the thread was taking a shot at boxing and fueling that MMA vs boxing debate again unnecessarily, and since the two are different sports, made no sense to me.

No offense but this is where lack of research has lead to your inaccurate post. Instead you replied with a comment based off "defending" boxing, when it had nothing to do with that. So while I understand your point, it brings negativity into a topic that should be legitimately discussed.

                  1) People are comparing EA MMA and FNC because they are made by the same company

                  2) EA MMA used the Fight Night engine to create the game so it would be logical to compare the two from a technical stand point of how the engines are being used.

                  3) FNC has adopted things from EA MMA that work well and had good consumer reports on. So comparing the good of EA MMA vs FN4 and the relation to FNC is very well worth comparing.

                  4) What EA MMA does well and relating those to the short comings of FN4 make it more worth while to talk about to see if FNC will fix the FN4 issues by using EA MMA as a base for what it has done well.

Re: Hard to go back to FN after EA MMA?

If you followed TheCreep in the boxing forums you know he's not taking a shot at anything. he's just asking.

I'd say yes, it is hard to go back to FN. I'll give two reasons. One is the stamina battle. This is something EA MMA has nearly perfected. You seriously have to watch stamina throughout the fight, because if you are low and your opponent connects, it can easily be over with one shot. Stamina plays a big role in this game. It's very flawed in FN4. I know that if I put in FN4, the first thing I will get frustrated with is the flawed stamina system.

The other thing is overall movement and then how a fighter moves during a stun state. In EA MMA, you have one punch KOs, the ability to truly pursue someone when you stun them and not feel like there is an obstacle in your way when you want to finish them off. Think about how awful it was when you stun your opponent in FN4. That walking through mud feeling that the aggressor had was just awful. I look back on it and can't believe I played the game for so long and tolerated it.

Those are my two things that stand out and say, "I can't go back and still appreciate FN4 when a game like EA MMA just gets it right."
Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.

I know others that feel the same way. Seems like MMA's engine is preferred.

Well, its pretty much confirmed now. The first time it was more along the lines with me not being able to IMAGINE going back and playing Rnd4 after MMA.

I popped FN in today and it just wasnt happening lol. Suuuuper slow. Im pissed at MMA now for killing my FN fettish.

Its all good though, Im certain champions will bring me back. No worries, just impatiently waiting now.

I agree and as a boxing fan I'm seriously pissed off that the FN team doesn't put in the same kind of effort as the MMA team does. It's non sense that this series has been around for over 10 years and yet the MMA team in their 1st try have already won over more boxing fans and created a more realistic fighter then the FN team can even dream of. I'm tired of the FN team being lazy and relying on Muhammad Ali's name to sell their product, then putting in a hard day's work at the office.
