    Last weekends bouts HBO/SHOW

This past weekend was an excellent for us boxing fans.

Marquez vs Katsidis was at times just amazing to watch (especially R3-8). I had Marquez favored, but I a part of me believed Katisdis's pressure may crack the Marquez and his 37 year old legs. Nope, did not happen and Marquez's sharp combos and durability wins yet again. (Marquez has been fantanstic and overlooked by many casual fans for to long).

Berto vs Hernandez bout time Mr. Berto. Nice right to KO a tough rugged dude like Hernandez. I hope he stays busy and gets back in the ring within 3 months. He needs work, but the gifts are there.

Caballero vs Litzau the judges finally got one right. Litzau fought smart at times, but was just bigger/better fighter on this night. I had Litzau winning, but I believed he was gonna screwed over.

Abraham vs Froch I thought this would be much closer, but Froch was hands down just better and much bigger man. I am not sure if it was just a bad style match Abraham, or the blueprint to beat him is out. Myself along with the majority of boxing media had him favored.

Personally I had the super six going like this (of course a lot has changed):
    1. Abraham
    2. Kessler
    3. Ward
    4. Froch
    5. Dirrell
    6. Taylor

Ward vs Bika it was for me an enjoyable rugged match, with some good and at times sloppy exchanges, but Ward (starting to really get excited about him) just makes adjustments and wins. The sky is the limit for Ward and I can't wait for his fight against Abraham.

What a great weekend as you can see.

I'm not excited AT ALL about Ward/Abraham. I hate Abraham's style.

I don't see what Abraham is going to do to NOT MAKE this a 118-109 or 119-109 decision loss.

Marquez vs. Katsidis was just a really great fight. Katsidis fought with a lot of heart and determination, and I love watching that guy get in the ring - he leaves it all out there every single time. He also fought with a heavy heart and a lot of spirit that night.

But what else can you say about Juan Manuel Marquez? He might be one of the best pure boxers I've ever seen; he punches so accurately and with power, even from awkward/medium-range distances. His combinations are like a work of art to watch. It's a pleasure to watch a guy like that operate.

Also, give it up for Jason Litzau...I used to kinda hate that guy when he first came on the scene, but since he's been humbled both in and out of the ring, I was sorta rooting for him and he delivered. I also thought he'd get jobbed in the end, but the judges recognized that he dominated that fight and fought with heart and passion.

Great night of fights indeed. Especially in a year where there haven't been all that many great ones...
